Litchfield Teen Killed in Wednesday Night Crash on Route 101

Last night November 28, 2012 at approximately 10:34pm, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A barracks responded to a report of a single unit motor vehicle collision on Route 101 in the Town of Auburn, NH.

Preliminary investigation has determined that a 2005 Saturn Ion, being driven by Tia Mavrogeorge, age 17, of Litchfield, NH, collided with the guardrail on the left side of the highway. The vehicle veered across the roadway and struck the guardrail on the right side of the highway. The vehicle broke through this section of guardrail and rolled down the embankment. The vehicle came to a final rest in the area of Tower Hill Rd. Mavrogeorge was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

Tia was a graduate of the Londonderry Adult Ed program in June of this year.

A male passenger in the vehicle, identified as Patrick Devine, age 23, of Manchester, NH, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Eliot Hospital where he was treated.

The right lane of Route 101 was closed in this area for several hours as State Police Troopers conducted their investigation and emergency guardrail repairs were made by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene was the Auburn Police Department, the Candia Police Department, the Auburn Fire Department, the Derry Fire Department, the New Hampshire State Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
