Local Town Hosts Summer Concert Series Open to All

The Derry Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present another season full of musical concerts as part of our Summer Concert Series held at MacGregor Park. These free concerts are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00 PM from July 10th until August 9th and are the perfect ways to end a beautiful summer day in Derry that the whole family can enjoy! Each of the artists featured below bring their own musical style to the Derry stage, and we look forward to seeing all of them live.

Thursday, July 12th – Mama Kicks
MAMA KICKS has been performing since 1994. Formed by Lisa Guyer (guitar/vocals) & Gardner Berry (keyboards/vocals), the duo first worked together in 1988 in “THE CLASSICS’ SHOWBAND”, a powerful 10-piece band which eventually evolved into “THE WICKED BIG BAND”. With the addition of    drummer David Stefanelli (Robert Ellis Orrall, RTZ, Peter Wolf and The Houseparty 5, The Beloved Few), Mama Kicks had reinvented themselves as a powerful 3 piece, electric dance machine with the best vocals and groove around.. In 2006 Mama Kicks added Chris Lester on guitar and vocals has now taken the band to an even higher level of music and fun.  Always an upbeat and strong performance, Mama Kicks is a show not to be missed!

Tuesday, July 17th – Pony Express
One of this area’s top country bands, Pony Express has been named “Band of the Year” at the National Country Music Association of America Competition.  Lead singer Karen Morgan has often been referred to as “New Hampshire’s First Lady of Country Music.”  Performing across New England for more than ten years, Pony Express has gained national attention, recognition and a huge following.

Thursday, July 19th – Reminisants
The Reminisants have been entertaining audiences of all ages throughout New England since 1973.The band’s repertoire features dance music that appeals to a variety of musical tastes across several generations. The Reminisants have performed for just about every type of function imaginable. The Reminisants have performed with many of the legends of Rock N’ Roll such as The Beach Boys, Felix Cavaliere with his Rascals, and The Crystals. The band is proud of their reputation as one of Boston’s most enduring and consistent stage acts. This show will entice the audience to join in and have a great time. Don’t miss The Reminisants’ first show on the Derry stage!

Tuesday, July 24th – White Mountain Bluegrass
Performing with their band “White Mountain Bluegrass” for over 39 plus years they carry their unique singing and harmonies to countless bluegrass fans throughout The Northeast and abroad. The band is known as one of the most personal and approachable personalities on the road, playing traditional bluegrass music suitable for all audiences.  Their instruments include the banjo, fiddle and stand-up bass.  This group has performed all over the United States and Europe and  is always a cherished favorite when they return to the bandstand in Derry.

Thursday, July 26th – Souled Out Showband
Derry Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce that Souled Out Showband will once again be bringing its funky & rockin’ righteousness to the bandstand!!!  Souled out is a nine piece, HIGH energy band that knows how to a make a crowd MOVE!!!  Be it an old Motown song or a modern top 40 classic, there is no way you can stand still during their performance!  The night promises to bring dynamic vocals, a tight rhythm section, sparkling horns, and a mesmerizing stage performance that is sure to please audiences of all ages!!

Tuesday, July 31st – Big 80’s
The Big 80′s is a musical and visual tribute to the decade of decadence. The band takes you from the quirky new wave of Gary Numan and Devo to the acid-washed rock of Bon Jovi and back again. They feature strong vocal and instrumental ability and wild ’80s clothes. The winning combination of an unstoppable groove and an over the top stage show will keep the park jammin’ and people partying like it’s 1999! So tease your hair, dig-out those Z-Cavaricci pants and get the Swatch watch and lace gloves out of storage. It’s time to Wang Chung!

Thursday, August 2nd – Josh Logan Trio
Josh Logan needs no introduction, once you’ve had the privilege of experiencing the infectious and soulful vocality he has been blessed with. His humble origins and musical originality are his key to tomorrow and his long-standing future ahead. Welcome to your newest obsession. Josh Logan, singer/songwriter, brings a fresh and addictive sound and style to the music scene. Josh blends a style of rock/blues/soul/pop and the product is invigorating and memorable.Josh Logan began his music career at the very young age of 14. With years of experience under his belt, Logan will not be a show you want to miss!

Tuesday, August 7th – Fried Cactus
We are proud to feature the up & coming band, Fried Cactus!  This is a hot, new, edgy country band that delivers a blend of cover songs and original material.  Comprised of six seasoned, well versed musician and an incredible young female lead vocalist, Fried Cactus has been wowing audiences across the region!  Fried Cactus is dynamic & exciting—their on stage presence is high energy and infectious!  With a driving rhythm section, screaming guitars, tight harmonies and soaring lead vocals, Fried Cactus will certainly prove that they are your not your traditional country band, but a fusion that crosses over into rock & top 40—truly relevant in what is occurring in today’s music! industry!

Thursday, August 9th – Mirage Band
Live, energetic, entertaining and style are only a few words that describe the Mirage band.  The band offers a diverse and a wide variety of musical styles, performing them with energy and passion that will get the audience on their feet in no time!  The band has a repertoire of songs that range from classic pop songs of the 80’s and 90’s to more contemporary hits, covering the pop, classic rock, R&B and country genres. Bob Pratte and Danielle Cowan Jean’s vocals are pure and dynamic with each performance.  The rhythm and horn sections is fun and enticing! Come check out this up and coming band’s performance at the park—a show not to be missed!
