Londonderry Fire rolled out for a Motor Vehicle Accident on High Range Road this afternoon at 1:25, Londonderry Police arrived to find one car into a pole with the driver out of the car just minutes following the call.
When Londonderry Fire arrived at 1:29 the patient was reported to be lying on the ground with the pole snapped at the base. Soon after arriving a clearly urgent request from Capt. Doug Cardwell went out for Medflight. Fire dispatch was unable to get an immediate response since DHART was in the air and needed to refuel, Medflight was 25 minutes away.
The patient was transported to Parkland Medical Center and left the scene at 1:44pm and arrived within 10 minutes. The patient is a 19 year old male with reported chest trauma and other injuries. It was also indicated that he may have been unrestrained at the time of impact.
The Londonderry Police Technical Accident Reconstruction team (TAR) is still at the High Range Road accident site between the town garage and Royal Lane and are still investigating the crash. The area continues to be closed to traffic as of 2:45pm, school buses have been rerouted to avoid the area.
PSNH arrived on scene just before 2pm and is replacing the pole.
