Local Boys Earn Championship Title

Four Londonderry boys were recently crowned champions in the Granite State County Cup pee wee hockey tournament. The tournament was held over the weekend of April 20 through 22, 2012, in Exeter, New Hampshire.

The boys represented Rockingham West in the tournament and went undefeated all weekend before entering the semifinals. In the first semifinal game, they beat out Merrimack County in overtime by 6 to 5, before defeating Rockingham East 8 to 2 to claim the championship.

Shane White and Travis Marchant attend fifth grade at South School, while Nicholas Pitarys attends fourth grade at South School and Mike Mackenzie attends sixth grade at the middle school in Londonderry. Shane, Travis and Nicholas won the Squirt County Cup for Rockingham West last year.

Three of the boys will be playing this upcoming season for the Cyclones 2001 Elites, while one will be playing for Top Gun 2000 Elites.
