Early this morning Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 12:58 am, officers from the Londonderry Police Department responded to 16 West Road for a report of a vehicle parked in front of the residence with its lights on and radio blaring. “Arriving on scene a few minutes later, officers discovered a single vehicle had crashed into a tree located on the property of 16 West Road. The vehicle’s driver was its sole occupant.” said Lt. Tim Jones of the Londonderry Police Department.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver may not have been wearing a seat belt, the TAR team (Londonderry Technical Accident Reconstruction unit) has not issued a report on the accident at the time of this update 9pm Sunday December 18th. Radio traffic did indicate that speed may have been a factor in the accident. The car impacted a tree in the passenger side door damaging the vehicle considerably. Emergency crews from the Londonderry Fire Department were immediately requested and dispatched upon officers’ discovery of the crash and seeing the driver’s visible injuries. After members of the Londonderry Fire Department evaluated the driver and rendered medical aid, she was ultimately flown to the Massachusetts General Hospital located in Boston, MA by DHART helicopter from a landing zone located at the West Road Soccer Fields in Londonderry, NH.
As of 6:00 AM today, Sunday December 18th, the driver was still undergoing surgery. Londonderry Police have not received any further updates as to the driver’s condition. The driver’s name is being withheld pending further notification of family. LPD’s Technical Accident Reconstruction team was called in to investigate the accident; said accident is in the first stages of the investigation. At this point, LPD does not have any information as to what contributed to the cause of the accident.
