Christine M. Simard, 91, of East Derry, NH died Friday November 26, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 2, 1919 in Manchester, NH, a daughter of the late Peter and Sophie. She was a resident of East Derry for 60 years, formerly living in Manchester. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School, Class of 1937. Mrs. Simard was the owner of Whispering Pines Mobile Home Village in Derry, retiring in 2007. She loved owls and had a vast collection of owl figurines in her home. Her siblings and their children affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Tina.” She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and traveling. In her free time, she loved reading, sewing and trying new crafts.
She is survived by two sons, Alan G. Simard and his wife Trina of Chester, George E. Simard Jr. and his wife Dorothy of East Derry, one daughter, Donna C. Ball and her husband Douglas of Londonderry, six grandchildren, Alyson, Deborah, Cristy, Shawn, Jason and Nathan, six great-grandchildren, Grace, Steven, Isabel, Audrey, Andrew and Kristin, and also by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George E. Simard, Sr. in 1982 and her son Robert Simard in 2007.
Calling hours will be held Monday, November 29th from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food for the Poor, Inc, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073 or to the Southwest Indian Foundation, PO Box 86, Gallup, NM 87302-0001.
