Lancers Fall to Memorial

Londonderry Lancers played Memorial last night at Lancer Park.  According to Coach Demas, “Londonderry started strong in the season opener by jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Vinny Parilla had a big 2 RBI single and Jake Cassidy had a solid RBI double in the first frame. Unfortunately that was all the offense the Lancers could muster on the day. Missed opportunities and the inability to make adjustments in the box lead to an overall below-average performance at the plate today.”

“On the other side Keith Simpson started and threw well. The defense made some fundamental mistakes that you can’t make against a team like Memorial- and it cost them. Simpson threw much better than his line showed. Let’s hope this is a wake up call and the boys bounce back this Friday against Alvirne. Next pitch!”

Christmas Comes to the Londonderry Town Common with the Annual Rotary Tree Lighting

Londonderry Rotary Club Christmas Tree Lighting on Londonderry Town CommonThe annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the Town Common will once again take place the first Sunday in December. At about 4 PM, or just when it starts to get dark, on December 4, 2011.  Lines of  beautiful decorated trees will be illuminated along the common. As part of the annual tradition, the trees are decorated by local non-profit organizations.  Around 20 trees will be available this year for decoration.  Trees will be available for decoration on November 27th.  If you are interested in decorating a tree contact Bob MacArthur at 965-6149.

The Girl Scouts from Londonderry and members of the Londonderry Christian Church choir will entertain those attending by singing traditional Christmas Carols and other seasonal songs.   Hot cider, hot chocolate, coffee, and yummy cookies will be available for those who gather among friends and family and enjoy the soft glow of lights from the trees.  Arrive early, as it believed that a special man in a red suit, along with his lovely wife, will be on the common after the trees are lit. All the good little girls and boys can sit upon his lap and whisper their best Christmas wishes.

Be sure to dress warm and bring the kids for this fun annual event!
