Operator Drives Blind on 93

Police Log for 07/15/10 – 07/21/10

During this week of police logs, Londonderry Police assisted New Hampshire State Police on more than one occasion. The first happened on July 17, at about 9:09 AM, NHSP asked Londonderry officers to check a royal blue pick up truck. According to the log, the “operator is driving with his eyes closed.”

Londonderry Police also assisted State Police earlier in the morning on July 17. At about 12:52 AM, officers helped NHSP with a “Felony Stop and provided backup for their subsequent on-scene investigation.” Prior to the stop, the Carroll Police Department put out a BOLO on a green, 1999 Saab 93. The vehicle had reportedly left the Twin Mountain area, traveling to Derry, with two males and one female inside. Carroll Police were requesting “a stop and hold, the subjects in the vehicle threatened someone with a loaded glock.”

After following a car straddling two lanes, Sergeant Adam Dyer stopped a motor vehicle on Nashua Road about about 1:35 AM on July 18. Assisted by Officer Nicholas Pinardi, Dyer made two arrests that night. The passenger was arrested first, cooperated with police, and was charged with underage drinking. The driver, however, began fighting with the officers, using techniques that are common to ground fighting and Mixed Martial Arts. After a long struggle, in which officers were fighting with the young man on the ground, hitting him with a baton, and threatening the use of pepper spray, the young man was taken into custody. Londonderry Resident Aids Police in Drug Bust

An observant resident helped Londonderry Police nab two boys involved in “drug transactions” this past weekend. Police headquarters received a call at about 4:31 PM on Sunday afternoon that a dark SUV was parked at the cul-de-sac on Ridgemont Drive. According to the caller, the same SUV had been seen parked in the area a few times before, and the caller had witnessed people come out of the woods and approach the vehicle. The caller stated that the people would pass things back and forth, then the vehicle would “take off.” This time, the occupants of the dark SUV parked, exited the car, and headed into the woods using a trail near the house at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Londonderry Police searched Avery and Boyd Roads in the area of Ridgemont after officers arrested two and two others fled during a drug bust this Sunday. The yellow line is the Hudson/Londonderry townline.

Police responded immediately, and arrived to find the empty vehicle still parked. They spoke with the caller, who said about four or five people got out and walked to a pathway located to the left of the house at the end of the road. The caller told police that the path led to the power lines, on the back side of the Londonderry Flea Market.

The green shaded area towards the center of the map is public land and is believed to be where the four boys entered the trail to the power lines.

The two officers first on scene began walking along the trail, and at seventeen minutes after the call came in, were on foot pursuit of four suspects. Police were able to take into custody two of those suspects, but two were able to flee. Officers stated that they were running south in the power lines and it appeared the two that escaped headed towards a trail that led to a road in Hudson. Headquarters immediately notified Hudson Police, who joined in the search for the suspects.

Londonderry Police were able to describe the males as between 17 and 20 years old, white, and one was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and blond crew cut hair. Police searched roads in the area, including Boyd and Avery, for the suspects. About 20 minutes after the first two suspects were caught, Hudson informed Londonderry Police that they had 2 males with a possible matching description at the Circle K on Route 102. Two officers responded, but the men were not the suspects police were looking for.

A secondary sweep for contraband on the path was completed. Nothing was found. The black SUV was towed from the scene and the search was discontinued. It was determined that police would interview the two suspects to find out who the two that fled may be.

Police transported a youth and 19 year old Aaron Sturup, both of Londonderry, back to the Londonderry Police Department.  Sturup was charged with Resisting Arrest or Detention. Both were released on personal recognizance bail and are due for arraignment on July 6 at 8:30 AM.

Be sure to listen to the audio of the police pursuit from the beginning. Please note: several long periods of silence have been removed, as well as personal information. The whole incident lasted over an hour, but the audio has been reduced down to about 20 minutes.

Police Log For 05/27/10 – 06/02/10

Police received a call from 911 reporting a female had contacted them and claimed she “had fallen after getting of the bus and broke her nail.” The report indicates that she did not give her name or any other contact information before disconnecting. She called back a second time, from a different location, and claimed she “is on the ‘sweet life’ ship and has fallen and broken her nails and heel.” Police were only able to obtain the longitude and latitude of her location, due to the type of phone she was calling from. Officers checked the area, but nothing was found.

At approximately 5:11 AM on May 29, a caller from the Nutfield Drive area reported three males walking the neighborhood smashing mailboxes. They were walking towards the Lawson Farm area, and one was reportedly wearing a white sweatshirt. Upon arrival, an officer was able to take one into custody, but the other two fled the scene. Officers were sent to the residence on Grapevine Circle, where the young men were supposedly staying the night before. When officers arrived at the residence, they were able to take another male into custody. Parents of both boys were then notified of their sons’ arrests. One male was charged with Unlawful Possession and Intoxication, Criminal Mischief (Vandalism) and Possession of Controlled/Narcotic Drugs. The other was charged with Unlawful Possession and Intoxication and Criminal Mischief.

Burglary Spree in Londonderry Wednesday

Police Log for 05/20/10 – 05/26/10

On Sunday, May 23, a man reported “suspicious activity”. At about 6:04 PM, a vehicle turned around in his driveway. He felt it was suspicious “because they didn’t look like they were from Londonderry.”

Several arrests were made this week. Charges ranged from Possession of Controlled/Narcotic Drugs to Simple Assault. One man, Uenes Almeida, was arrested for Shoplifting at Shaws. His “inconspicuous” vehicle? A semi-flatbed tractor trailer unit. When police arrived, he attempted to give police a false name, adding to his charges False Report to Law Enforcement. Almeida was taken into custody and his get-away vehicle was towed.

Londonderry experienced a series of four burglaries and possible attempted burglaries within an hour and ten minutes on Wednesday, May 26. The first reported incident came in at 3:27 PM. The caller reported that he’d already been through the house and it was “in disarray upstairs and downstairs”. The slider door was reportedly still open. The next call came in at about 4:15 PM as a residence alarm. The alarm was triggered by the sun room door. At about 4:23 PM, another burglary was reported on Mammoth Road. The caller told police that she arrived home to find her front door open and her animals outside. Police told the caller to wait outside until they arrived. Upon entering the house and further investigating, police confirmed it was a burglary. The final call came in at about 4:37 PM as another residence alarm. Police arrived and found an open door but were able to determine that nothing was taken from the residence.
