Possible Attempted Kidnapping in Londonderry

Police Logs for 07/22/10 – 07/28/10

An impaired driver made his arrest easy for Londonderry Police during this week’s logs. At approximately 4 AM on July 23, Dispatch received a call that a man was sleeping in his car at a stop light in town. According to the logs, there was a “vehicle with male operator sitting asleep at the lights at Rt 102/128. No vehicle information, no plate number.” An officer responded and found the man still sitting at the lights. David Hallenborg, of Derry, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Liquor.

Another arrest this week resulted in alarming charges. On July 23, at about 1 AM, Londonderry Police initiated a motor vehicle check on Mammoth Road. The police logs state, “checking a vehicle with driver’s door open.” Police subsequently arrested 28 year old Andrew Gomez of Derry. His charges were Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated (Second Offense) and, mostly alarmingly, Endangering Welfare of Child/Incompetent.

Londonderry Police were contacted via 911 when a female called to report “she stopped at location for another female who was screaming for help.” The victim stated that a male subject had attempted to kidnap her. He was driving a gray colored SUV and was described as being white with dark hair, a light bears, and light colored, possible gray shirt. The information was passed onto Derry Police as well as other police departments. According to Lieutenant Saunders, “this case is under investigation. No further information is being released at this time. If more information becomes available, I will update.”

Operator Drives Blind on 93

Police Log for 07/15/10 – 07/21/10

During this week of police logs, Londonderry Police assisted New Hampshire State Police on more than one occasion. The first happened on July 17, at about 9:09 AM, NHSP asked Londonderry officers to check a royal blue pick up truck. According to the log, the “operator is driving with his eyes closed.”

Londonderry Police also assisted State Police earlier in the morning on July 17. At about 12:52 AM, officers helped NHSP with a “Felony Stop and provided backup for their subsequent on-scene investigation.” Prior to the stop, the Carroll Police Department put out a BOLO on a green, 1999 Saab 93. The vehicle had reportedly left the Twin Mountain area, traveling to Derry, with two males and one female inside. Carroll Police were requesting “a stop and hold, the subjects in the vehicle threatened someone with a loaded glock.”

After following a car straddling two lanes, Sergeant Adam Dyer stopped a motor vehicle on Nashua Road about about 1:35 AM on July 18. Assisted by Officer Nicholas Pinardi, Dyer made two arrests that night. The passenger was arrested first, cooperated with police, and was charged with underage drinking. The driver, however, began fighting with the officers, using techniques that are common to ground fighting and Mixed Martial Arts. After a long struggle, in which officers were fighting with the young man on the ground, hitting him with a baton, and threatening the use of pepper spray, the young man was taken into custody. To read the full story about this arrest, go to Londonderry Police Fight “Martial Artist” During Arrest.

After some discussion about the various items the police need, but are not budgeted for, the Londonderry Police Department gratefully accepted three 10 feet by 10 feet Gazebos. The Gazebos will be used during large call-outs for service. Londonderry Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (TAR) will receive one; the Londonderry Police Investigative Unit, Detectives will receive the second; the Londonderry ALERT Team will receive the third.

The units will be used as office space to protect officers from natural elements such as rain and insects. The Gazebos will also provide a space for privacy when needed and allow officers to perform other necessary tasks involved with the call-out.

The New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association (NHYLA) holds an annual tournament in June here in Londonderry. The police and representatives from the association have built a relationship because of the volume of traffic and pedestrians involved in this event.

As described on their website, “The New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association (NHYLA) was formed in 1994 and has grown as the vehicle for New Hampshire towns and programs to learn about the game of lacrosse, receive help launching lacrosse programs, and act as the guardian of the youth lacrosse game in New Hampshire.”

Police Log for 06/10/10 – 06/16/10

Several arrests were made in Londonderry this week. One of those arrests was from an incident that occurred in the McDonalds Drive Thru in May. On the 21st of May, Officer Mottram and Officer King were dispatched at about 1:45 AM to the McDonalds on Route 102. They arrived and were waved inside by an employee. The employee told officers that “they were still in the drive-thru.” As Officer King approached the drive thru, he could hear male and female voices yelling. The female was yelling, “Do you guys think this is funny? You think it’s funny to take my food.” Officer King stated that he could hear the voices “well before I came to the corner of the building and observed that the yelling was far louder than appropriate for where we were.” Officers spoke with both suspects, who admitted to being loud and angry before police arrived. Verbal and written statements from three witnesses on scene also verified that both “were yelling and swearing for several minutes,” even after being asked to stop by a witness. Kendra Lefave was taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct on June 14 at 8:25 PM. Salvatore Pennellatore was also arrested.
