Power Pole Fire on Londonderry Road

Just moments ago at 3:55pm Saturday November 28th Londonderry Police noticed a piece of wood smoldering on the side of Londonderry Road. The officer was able to extinguish the burning wood but noticed that the power pole nearby was arcing and a fire was in the brace that supports the wires.

PSNH was notified but the fire continued to get larger, Londonderry fire was dispatched to 34a Londonderry road to work the pole fire.

Londonderry Fire is en route as we publish this report.  Apparently the fire did go out on its own, LPD left the scene at 4:08, Londonderry Fire arrived at 4:10 and found no fire.

Trolley Car Lane Family Burned out of Home

6 Inch line charged and feed to another pumper at Fire Training in Londonderry, NHJust before 9pm last night, Londonderry Fire dispatched three engines a truck and the command vehicle to 15a Trolley car lane for a reported fire. Departing the station at 8:54 the first truck reached the fully involved fire at 9pm. First responder on the scene was Londonderry Police at 8:58 reported back to dispatch a fully involved fire and indicated that at 8:59 residents were reporting to them on the scene that all people were out of the building.

Engine three and the command vehicle arrived on scene and began laying a hose at 9:00 just four minutes after the call came in. Police instantly shut down access to the one entrance Trolley Car Lane located near Route 93 off of Hovey road. At 9:01 fire dispatch called in Derry Medic, a Derry Engine, the Windham Tanker and also Londonderry Rescue one. A total of 3 tankers were dispatched in this area that is not served directly by hydrants. The 3 story colonial had heavy fire on the first floor only of the duplex with one line running at 9:03. At the same time, police were gathering residents for questioning and verifying that all were evacuated safely from the structure.

At just 10 minutes after arrival the Londonderry Fire department had extinguished the visible fire and reported heavy smoke on the second and third floor. At 9:15 the fire department had completed a search and secondary search of the structure verifying that the family had evacuated.

“I didn’t know until he opened the door and yelled, ‘Fire!’” said Steven Salvage.
“I could smell it when it was coming down the stairs,” she said. “There was this big black smoke billowing out of their door.” Her brother, James Howe, said he was watching television when the lights suddenly went out.

“The lights started to flicker and I thought we were going to just lose power,” Howe said. The Salvages, their two children and Howe quickly fled the building and called the Fire Department.
