Londonderry School District, Office of Superintendent of Schools
To: The Londonderry Community
From: Nate Greenberg
Date: April 20, 2010
As you are aware, Mark Blount our Assistant Superintendent has accepted the Superintendency of the Shaker Regional School District. Mark has made significant contributions to our district these past seven years. He has been a superior educational leader and his appointment as Superintendent in Shaker Regional is justly deserved. I am positive he will be a truly outstanding Superintendent of Schools. Thank you, Mark, for a job well done.
Having known that Mark was a strong candidate over a month ago, I began to think about his replacement and leadership succession.
Thus, in order to continue to promote and sustain educational and organizational improvement and excellence we have over the years implemented a systemic focus on the development of talented people within our organization predicated on the philosophy, focus and culture of our school system.
The components of that system include:
- Disciplined People
- Disciplined Thought
- Disciplined Action
- Adhering to Inputs
- Tracking Progress
- Driving Individuals to Higher Levels of Performance and Impact
- Understanding the Vision (future state of organization)
- Understanding the Mission (reason organization exists)
- Understanding and Adhering to our Values/Core Beliefs
- Developing and Implementing the Strategic Plan
- District/School/Personal Goals aligned with the Strategic Plan, Vision, Mission and Core Beliefs, including accountability, trust, commitment and loyalty

Andy Corey with his wife Barrie-Jane Corey at the Concord Award Ceremony, Named 2010 Principal of the Year
Our daily operations include opportunities through mentoring at all administrative levels including internships for advanced degrees and aspiring administrators; staff development focusing on curriculum/instruction, supervision/evaluation, analysis of data, leadership skills, technology/instructional technology, formative and summative evaluations, internships, collegial and coordinated development of Strategic Plans, future casting, facilities, educational law, special education, decision making, policy development and operations and procedures.
This systemic, intentional and focused method of operation is designed to promote the development and enhancement of leadership skills, foster a positive, focused forward looking school system and ensure that not only do we have the right people on the bus, but that we have them in the right seats to ensure we fulfill our mission.
After a great deal of thought, I have recommended and received approval from the Board for the following appointments.
Andy Corey, LMS Principal, will become Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Andy who is this year’s Middle School Principal of the Year, brings a strong background in curriculum and instruction having served as Principal of Hudson Catholic School, Dean of Instruction at Dover High School and as Principal of Londonderry Middle School since 2004. Prior to his administrative positions, he was a Math/Business Teacher from 1986-1998.
Andy’s strong curriculum and instruction background, outstanding administrative and interpersonal skills, as well as his knowledge of our district’s programs and services and strong relationships within our community, will make him an outstanding Assistant Superintendent.
Andy’s appointment left vacant the Middle School Principalship. Once again we have an outstanding educational leader who has the background, skills, and knowledge to provide outstanding leadership. That person is Richard Zacchilli presently Principal of North School.
Rich’s extensive educational experience includes teaching at the Middle School level; Assistant Principal and Athletic Director experience at that level and of course, an Assistant Principalship (1994-1997 at Matthew Thornton) and Principalship (1997-Present at North School) in Londonderry since 1994. Rich has been and continues to be involved in and provides leadership in a myriad of curriculum and instruction initiatives, strategic planning and district-wide initiatives. It should also be noted that Rich was a 2007 Principal of the Year Finalist.
His extensive administrative experience and deep understanding of curriculum and instruction, knowledge of child development, strong interpersonal skills and community roots will make him an outstanding Middle School Principal.
Mary Coltin, our Assistant Principal at North School since 1994 and the 2009 Assistant Principal of the Year, will be taking over the reins as Principal of North School. Mary has been intimately involved with our three tier reading model, Strategic Plan development, District-wide technology initiatives, and Co-Chair of the District’s Curriculum Advisory Committee. Her in-depth knowledge of elementary curriculum and instruction, her immense popularity and respect from students, faculty, staff, parents and the greater North School community make her the ideal choice to replace Richard Zacchilli.
As our outstanding Assistant Superintendent leaves his seat on the Londonderry bus to transfer to the Shaker Regional bus, I believe and the Board is in concurrence that we have the right people on our bus who are fully prepared to change their seats and provide outstanding leadership and service to our students, faculty and staff. They are: Andy Corey, Richard Zacchilli and Mary Coltin.
