What is it with all this five, talk anyways?
This weekend is going to be one of the best ever for U-Pick Apples & Pumpkins in Londonderry, New Hampshire. The weather is forecast to be at record temperatures with no snow (that will come soon enough!) rain, sorry for the reminder of what is to come next month.
Ever have a design consultant help you with decorating your home? You may find they are always looking for displays to be “odd”. A pair of items looks out of place, on the wall or on the table, even four or six items end up looking like soldiers out for a march or pins waiting to be knocked down. Design is almost always implemented in odds. Nature is also often odd, who would have expected our Hometown Online News forecast today to show highs of 84 and lows of 58 degrees. Take a close look at our bountiful Londonderry Spring blossoms, Five petals, Five carpel’s the visible part of the female reproductive organ of the blossom. If you click on the photo you can see them as green lobes just under the stamens, the male side of the blossom starts with the the pistils reaching above the stamens with sticky tip, the stigma at the top. This is where the bees deposit pollen when “on the wing” during spring in Londonderry.
Talk about Bounty! Our five major farms are offering hundreds of types of fresh local produce for sale this weekend. You can select to pick it yourself or take it right off the rustic farm stand counter and pay for it as you leave the barn, functioning as a store this time of year.

The first lesson is how NOT to cut an apple, this is the way you have always done it so resist the temptation.
Next put the apple so the stem is on the side, the bottom of the apple should be on the other side.
Almost there, do not let the surprise fall from the sky!
This is it hidden in every Londonderry New Hampshire apple, a star, a 5 sided star with 5 seeds.
Kids, did you know you can “Ink up the apple and use it as a stamp? What do you think you will be stamping?
This story was contributed to by Steve Young of Londonderry, 25 years ago before moving to Londonderry, New Hampshire he ran a small orchard in Upstate New York where he held a valid spray permit and managed a co-op of similar small farmers.
