December 31 ADAM EZRA GROUP
This is going to be a really fun NEW YEAR’S EVE show with one of Boston’s rising stars. Still tickets remain for this fun night of percussion and guitar driven alternative rock.
New Bookings
February 14 RYAN MONTBLEAU BAND
Emerging onto the national music scene from his home base of Boston, Ryan Montbleau has been described as something of a Martin Sexton by way of Van Morrison and Stevie Wonder. Yet Ryan Montbleau Band’s music is difficult to pigeon-hole or neatly categorize. It is original yet familiar, a fresh sound full of firmly-rooted ingredients, including Americana, folk, blues, ragtime and 70′s R& B and soul. Whereas the band’s intriguing instrumentation and arrangements (not to mention top notch chops) help to create this unique sound, all is firmly anchored by Montbleau’s water-tight lyrics and unmistakable voice.
February 25 TUPELO NIGHT of COMEDY
This new comedy night brings Tyler Boeh, Paul Gilligan and Stacy Yannetty to the stage. Still the best deal around for only $17 per ticket.
March 13 LUTHER “GUITAR JR” JOHNSON
Luther “Guitar Junior” Johnson is a bona fide leader of the West Side guitar style with his unique blend of blues, soul and funk. His incredible guitar riffs and plaintive vocals leave no doubt that this is one of best blues performers on the scene today.
After serving his apprenticeship with Muddy Waters and Magic Sam, Luther developed his own signature style characterized by a strong rhythmic component and deeply moving vocal phrasings. “Guitar Junior” earned his moniker by performing a blistering blend of single string playing on the electric guitar augmented by powerful chordal accompaniment. His inspiration comes from a number of music’s legends, including Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Freddy King and Magic Sam.
March 25 LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III
“I suppose if you were writing my obituary today you’d refer to 1972′s “Dead Skunk” (#1 in Little Rock Arkansas for six weeks) and my 3 appearances on the M*A*S*H TV show in 1975 as Capt. Calvin Spaulding, the singing surgeon. Hopefully you’d mention my two Grammy nominations for the albums I’m Alright (1985) and More Love Songs (1986). And you’d remember and include the fact that Johnny Cash recorded my song “The Man Who Couldn’t Cry” for his highly acclaimed 1994 album American Recordings. Undoubtedly your editor would remind you to say something about last summer’s BBC II TV show, Loudon And Co. and the topical songs I’ve been writing for N.P.R. and Ted Koppel’s Nightline on ABC.” –Loudon Wainwright III website.
