This past year we have been transitioning over to a new student management system known as X2 Aspen. Aspen is a secure Web-based school information management system produced by X2 Development Corporation for school districts and is used by many area schools. The system manages all facets of student data -attendance, grades, schedules, report cards, progress reports, transcripts, GPA, class rank, conduct, state reporting, etc. Londonderry School District has been using Aspen since the fall of 2008 with great success.

Beginning in July of this year, we have implemented the “parent portal” allowing parents, teachers, and administrators to work together and communicate more effectively and efficiently. Since the launch date, we have seen tremendous interest in the parent portal, indicated by well over 23,000 logins to the system from more than 2,700 different users.

The parent portal provides district parents and guardians with the ability to view:

• Family and emergency contact information: contact information may be viewed as well as edited online, providing the schools with faster access to critical information. Instructions to edit contact information on the parent portal can be found by selecting “Read More” at the end of this story.

• Academic information, including real-time access to previous, current and upcoming assignments. This information is available for middle and high school students only. Please understand that teachers will be updating their gradebooks in a timely fashion.

• Attendance, absences, dismissals and tardies all display on the parent portal.

We take security and confidentiality very seriously. X2 Aspen protects your student’s information with the same advanced technology your bank uses to protect your financial accounts. All X2 Aspen users only have access to information they need, and nothing more. We have carefully configured the system to ensure that your student’s information is confidential and can only be retrieved by the parent/guardian and authorized school personnel.

To view the parent portal, using any computer that is connected to the internet:
1. Open your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari) to connect to the Internet.
2. Go to https://x2.londonderry.org
3. Enter your Login ID and Password provided by the district.

The Aspen parent portal is a project we are very excited about. Already we have seen the benefits of increased student, teacher and parent communications.
