With only 2% of New Hampshire PSNH customers left without power, PSNH was optimistic on the morning of December 23, 2008. They were hopeful to have all of the customers restored by the end of the day. There was approximately 4,785 in New Hampshire still without power. There was also still a large number of residents in Londonderry that did not have power, but those were only the ones with the connection to their homes gone. By 11:45 AM, PSNH was listing Londonderry as complete, however, the Fire Chief did say that “135 are left without power at this point in Londonderry.” Those who still had not gotten power were encouraged to call PSNH.
There was still around 1,200 line, contract and tree crews in New Hampshire. 157 of those crews were reportedly in Londonderry. These crews had restored approximately 7,000 customers within the previous 24 hours.
In an update from the Town, it was announced that, “The regional shelter located at Londonderry High School Gymnasium is closing as of 9:00 AM today, December 23. Any residents still in need of shelter should contact the Greater Manchester Red Cross.”
There was a few power outages that had occurred the day prior. It was reported that parts of the north end of Londonderry had lost power due to the storm. Some were out for more than an hour. “This included North School at the end of the day for an hour while classes were in session. Natural and emergency lighting kept school in session.”
