On December 22, 2008, eleven days after losing power from an ice storm that hit New Hampshire, there was still less than 5% of PSNH customers without power. The total number was 14,500 customers throughout New Hampshire. By 6:30 AM, around 755 of those customers were located in Londonderry. Between the previous night and that morning, more than 2,300 customers were reconnected in
the Derry area, about 1,000 reconnections being in Londonderry.
PSNH stated that there were still approximately 1,200 line, contract and service crews in New Hampshire. In a list from PSNH of restoration dates by town, Londonderry was “ongoing.” One resident, in response to PSNH’s prediction of 95% by Midnight Thursday, wrote, “Don’t EVER, EVER AGAIN make statements…..unless you are ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY SURE you can deliver. These sorts of broken promises, understandably, generated a lot of ill will amongst those who were told one thing, only to subsequently find reality quite another thing…”
As a Nor’Easter was moving through the region, PSNH asked residents “to stay off the roads if possible in order to protect their own safety and to avoid the potential for accidents involving utility poles that could create more power outages and impact the restoration of customers who remain without power due to the ice storm.” Also, the reduced visibility was a concern, as the strong winds were blowing snow onto the roads. A few more power outages were reported due to the winds from the storm. Regardless of the weather, crews were expected to work through the night to finish restorations.
School was delayed for 90 minutes that morning and morning Kindergarten at Moose Hill was canceled because of the winds and snow.

Please feel free to leave comments about Day 11 of the storm as you remember it.
