Due to the weather, all schools have been cancelled. All afternoon and evening activities have also been cancelled.

National Weather Service Update

Significant snowfall expected to continue today and tonight.

Snow has been developing from southwest to northeast between 500 and will continue through 1000 am.

An area of low pressure developing on the warm front will result in snow falling heavily at times from mid morning through the afternoon hours. snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour are possible during this time. travel will be significantly impacted from the morning commute onward.

As conditions deteriorate fairly rapidly this morning into the afternoon hours. along the immediate coast. The snow is expected to mix with and perhaps even change to rain at times. In addition increasing winds will result in blowing and drifting of the heavy wet snow.

Further inland including Londonderry snow will fall heavily through Wednesday afternoon. Accumulating 6 to 12 inches across interior southeast New Hampshire Snow may mix with or change to rain and sleet in the late afternoon and evening before tapering off.

As the precipitation becomes lighter tonight it will likely fall in the form of drizzle freezing drizzle or snow flurries. This will depend on surface temperatures but little additional snowfall is expected after this evening. Along the midcoast where the winds will be strongest this afternoon and this evening the combination of wind and snow may result in downed trees and power outages.

    And so it begins…wonder how many snow days it be this year? Did it bother anyone that our children had such a short summer or is it just me? Do we really need a Feb AND Apr vacation week? Wouldn’t one week in March be sufficient? Ok, don’t all start shooting me at once! Just think about how long your summer was as a kid…

    I wonder what we will all be thinking if Obama gets his way and makes the school year longer. That might be the only thing I agree with him on. The students in the US continues to fall behind the rest of the world because we base our school year on a system developed on agrarian calendar years in the past.
