At 4:53 in the afternoon Thanksgiving Day Londonderry Fire rolled on a call to assist State Police on Route 93. Reports indicated a car between 4 and 5 that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of the highway. Further initial reports indicated that it had left the high way and hit a tree. Reports from a 911 caller 6 minutes after Londonderry Fire was dispatched indicated that the male occupant of the vehicle was unconscious and not breathing. Seconds after that DHART checked availability of the aircraft, it was determined that the MHT based unit was not available, and Medflight was called. Although weather may have grounded that rescue attempt it was ultimately not needed as the Medic 1 transported the driver to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.

Londonderry Fire arrived at mile marker 13.2 at about 5:02pm, State Police were at the accident when they arrived.
According to Trooper Sean Harringon of the New Hampshire State Police, “There were two vehicles involved in the accident and both had been traveling south on Interstate 93 just south of exit 5. At a certain point, both vehicles were side by side, with one passing the other. For an unknown reason, the vehicle being passed drifted to its left from the travel lane and sideswiped the passing vehicle, sending it off onto the median. No one was injured in that vehicle.”
The driver of the drifting vehicle, Phillip G. Latimore of 74 Fordway Extension in Derry, New Hampshire, went across the center median, across the northbound lanes of Interstate 93, struck a gardrail, then continued in a southerly direction back across the northbound lanes where he struck a cluster of trees.
Phillip Latimore died in that crash. State Police reports indicate that he may have suffered an unknown medical condition causing his death and the erratic movement of his vehicle.
Sargent Dean Holston of Troop B indicated that the case remains under investigation by Trooper Sean Harrington.
9pm update 11/27 The preliminary obituary is available “Phillip Latimore of Derry”
