Cat Holds Girl Hostage

Police Log for 11/12/09-11/18/09

First Place A woman called the police station needing help with a “wild animal.” Her daughter was being held captive in her room by a “vicious” cat, which had attacked her and her children on three separate occasions. When she was asked why she did not put the cat outside, the woman replied that it needed to be captured and checked for rabies. An officer was sent out with a trap, which was then dropped off with the woman, along with some information on how the woman should proceed.

Each week, Londonderry Hometown News will publish the Londonderry Police Logs for your review. We will also choose the top three humorous ones and give them a rating of first, second or third. This week, however, there was only this one. If you see one that you think should be in the top three, please feel free to contact us.

GERSTEIN AFFIDAVIT
11/14/2009
ROCKINGHAM, SS
I, OFFICER GEORGE R MOTTRAM JR, have reasonable grounds to believe that JOHN ROBBINS (D.O.B. 02/20/1971) has committed the crime(s) of: SHOPLIFTING
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
SIMPLE ASSAULT
SIMPLE ASSAULT
based on the following probable cause:
On 11/14/2009, I was dispatched to Market Basket for a report of a shoplifter who became aggressive and was being detained on the ground by employees until Police arrive.
Upon arrival I saw three employees from Market Basket sitting on top of another man appearantly trying to restrain him from leaving the area. When I approached they began telling me that he tried stealing several items from the store and began to fight them when they confronted him. The suspect on the ground was identified as:
John J. Robbins
55 W. Broadway Apt. 1
Derry, NH 03038
DOB 02/20/1971
John was screaming obscenities at the people restraining him and the people standing around I heard him say “Get off me..I’m gonna kick your xxxxxxx xxxxx.” As the employees got off of him I restrained him in handcuffs. He began blowing spit at the employees who were standing nearby.
As I was walking him to my cruiser he said ” Ya you guys are all a bunch of xxxxxxx xxxxx. I’m gonna come back and xxxxxxx kick all your xxxxx. You watch you think this is funny. I’m gonna get you.” I told John twice to shut his mouth and be quiet because there were people with children in the area. He ignored me and continued to curse at the people standing around. He said “I want all there names . I’m gonna xxxxxxx kill them all. I’m gonna sue the xxxx out of this place and everyone here. I want all you cops’ names here too cause i’m gonna sue you too. I’m gonna be rich from this you watch.” I told John to keep quiet and secured him in my cruiser.
I spoke to Madeline Robbins (DOB 11/19/1978). Madeline is the wife of John. She stated that they had been in a verbal argument earlier in the day. She stated to me that John left the store with with an arm full of items to show her only to verify if that was what she wanted. She said she was parked in front of the store in the fire lane and saw the employees follow John out. She said that the employees asked John for a receipt for the items but said something rude to her husband. She told me that the employees attacked John and brought him to the ground. She did not feel that there needed to be four employees holding John down she felt it was excessive for walking out of the store with only a few items. I explained to her that the employees were authorized to detain John until Police arrival. She was given a statement form by Off. B. Allaire. She did not fill out the statement form.
Off. B Allaire retrieved statements from the other employees involved in the incident. It was reported to him that manager Mxx Lxx asked employee Cx to assist him with confronting John. Mxx reported that he saw John leave the store with an “Armload of items.”. He asked for a receipt for the items showing proof of purchase. John said that he was going to show the items to his wife first.
Mxx said he was going to call the Police if he did not return to the store to pay for the items. John became belligerent and began swearing at him and Cx. John called Mxx a “xxxxxxx xxxx..”. and said “Go ahead and call the cops ..I’ll xxxxxxx kill you.”. Mxx told Off. Allaire that he grabbed the fabric of Johns coat and attempted to take him into the store to detain him until Police arrival. Mxx said that John took off his coat and charged at him and Cx. Cx helped Mark get him to the ground. Px Ax(DOB x/x/1958) saw Mx and Cx struggling to detain John and assisted by sitting on John until Police arrival. Peter reported that John spit in his face and was kicking him while attempting to escape.
John was arrested and charged with shoplifting, disorderly conduct, and two counts of simple assault. After booking BC Terry Doyle set bail at $2,500.00 cash. John attempted to make phone calls to raise the bail money without success. I transported John to Rockingham County House of Corrections until arraignment on Monday 11/16/2009 at 0830.
Mottram #35
The State respectfully request cash bail for this defendant, based on the following circumstances:
John’s violent nature.
John’s threat of violence to the employee’s at Market Basket.
John’s lengthy criminal history, including drug convictions and a history of assault with a deadly weapon.
John’s from out of state.
Bail Commissioner Terry Doyle has set bail in the amount of $2,500.00 cash.

State of New Hampshire
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY DERRY DISTRICT COURT
11/13/2009
I, OFFICER MATTHEW G MORIN , being duly sworn, herewith make application for the issuance of an Arrest warrant against the defendant:
Defendant’s Name: GREGORY GOSS
DOB: 07/16/1955
I have information that the crimes of Conduct after an accident and Operating without a valid license has been committed by the defendant as follows: (describe source, facts indicating reliability and credibility of source, and nature of information; if based in personal knowledge, so state):
I am Officer Matthew Morin with the Londonderry, New Hampshire Police Department. I have worked for the town of Londonderry as a full time Police Officer for around 3 years. I attended the 141 full time New Hampshire Police academy as well as some in service training. I have an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from the New Hampshire Technical institute.
On October 31, 2009 at approximately 2016 hours I was dispatched to the Homestead Restaurant (176 Mammoth Road) for a reported hit and run motor vehicle accident. The caller gave a registration of NH HRBLF. This registration lists to a Hudson, New Hampshire address on a black Cadillac Deville. I was also of informed that the driver of the vehicle was possibly intoxicated.
I responded from the Interstate 93 Bridge on Nashua Road and traveled east towards Mammoth Road. I did not locate the suspect vehicle (HRBLF) prior to arriving at the Homestead Restaurant.
I drove around the parking lot and then made contact with a Tejwant Stead DOB 03/19/1947 and then her husband Edward Stead DOB 12/25/1940. Their vehicle a green Honda Accord bearing NH veteran registration V13887 was parked in the Homestead parking lot near the fence facing west.
The damage to their vehicle consisted of a scrape(s) that started in the middle of the driver’s door and ran along the length of the car to the rear bumper.
I spoke with Tejwant and Edward and received written statements about the incident.
Edward and Tejwant had just left the Homestead Restaurant with another couple in front of them walking out about the same time. Edward claimed the male staggered as he was walking out. They got into a black Cadillac that was parked to the left of their vehicle.
Edward and Tejwant walked past their vehicle to give them a chance to back out. Tejwant claimed that when they turned around they were backing out quickly and they heard a loud noise and the black Cadillac was speeding past them.
At this point they went to the side of their vehicle and saw the damage.
They claimed the incident took place at 2010 hours.
Edward described the operator as a white male with black hair and a black mustache. He claimed he was wearing a black polo style shirt.
The operator was with a white female with blonde hair.
Dispatch was given the description of the operator. I also advised them that the damage to the suspect vehicle should be in the right front corner. I determined this due to vehicle one (the Cadillac) being reported as backing out to the left.
While I was on scene I was informed that Hudson Police were out with the vehicle in a driveway with no one in it. On November 02, 2009 I received a copy of Hudson Police Officer Roger Lamarche’s Police Report. The following information was taken from his report:
Lamarche claimed that on October 31, 2009 at about 2019 hours Sgt. Dionne and himself were dispatched for a MV complaint from the Londonderry PD in the area of Rt. 102. The MV was identified through the NH registration as 1999 Cadillac DeVille bearing NH registration HRBLF colored black. This vehicle was registered to Gregory Goss DOB 07/16/1955 21 Cheney Drive Hudson, NH 03051.
The operator of the vehicle was described as a white male, black hair and mustache possibly impaired and damage to the right front corner of the suspect MV.
Lamarche responded to the residence of the registered owner. Upon his arrival he observed the suspect MV in the driveway. He claimed there was visible minor damage to the right front corner of the car. There was also damage to the right rear quarter panel.
Upon Sgt. Dionnes arrival at this location digital photos were taken of the MV and damage. Lamarche claimed an audible tick was observed from the MV. He claimed that this is consistent through his training and experience as an indication the MV engine was recently running.
Sgt. Dionne and Officer Lamarche then made contact with the residents. They spoke to two of the residents, Eric and Janet Goss. Eric stated Gregory Goss was his father. Janet Goss is Gregory Goss’s wife. When asked, Janet admitted she and her husband had recently come from the Homestead Restaurant. Janet stated her husband was now in bed and was asleep. She was advised they were following up for the Londonderry PD regarding an accident at the Homestead Restaurant. Janet said her husband did not hit anything when they were leaving, because she would have remembered. She admitted she was a passenger in the Cadi. Janet appeared to be deceptive and covering for her husband. She went upstairs and attempted to raise Gregory.
Janet came back downstairs and told them she was driving. They advised her not to lie as she would create a bigger issue with this incident. They advised her the driver fit her husband’s description. Janet stated the problem was her husband did not have a license. They (HPD) advised her they knew his license was expired. Janet and Eric both went to get Gregory.
After about 25 minutes, Gregory came downstairs. Off. Lamarche claimed he matched the description of the suspect driver. He had dark hair, mustache and was wearing a t-shirt and pajama bottoms. Gregory said he did not know why they were there. He first admitted he had been at the Homestead with his wife. When asked if he wanted to tell them what happened tonight he said “No”. He then said he maybe he wasn’t at the Homestead Restaurant. When asked where he parked in the lot at the Homestead, he said he didn’t remember. He was asked again and he said somewhere in the parking lot. Gregory continued to be uncooperative and Sgt. Dionne and Off. Lamarche ended there contact with him. Off. Lamarche claimed he appeared to be groggy and thick tongued while speaking to them.
On November 08, 2009 around 1650 hours I (Off.Morin) spoke with Gregory on the telephone. He claimed that he was the one that drove from the Homestead Restaurant and his wife was in the front passenger seat. He claimed that he didn’t know he hit anything.
On November 10, 2009 at 0805 hours Janet Goss left a voice mail for me (Off. Morin) returning my phone call. In the message she claimed: They went out to dinner her husband was going away, they went out to dinner they went in the parking lot. As far as she knows they never hit anything. She didn’t feel it so if they did it had to of been like a feather. She doesn’t even know how it could be called an accident. She claimed she was not lying. She did not hit anything, her husband didn’t hit anything. If they did, and it wasn’t because they were drinking she had a half of beer with her dinner he had a glass of wine they weren’t drunk they didn’t hit anything. She questioned who are these people that are saying that they did, who are they, what where they driving, how come they took their license down and didnt’ say stop, they would have gladly have stopped. They would have taken care of it without even going through the insurance. If they did they did not feel it. It had to been so light they did not feel it. The damage could not have been more than a tiny little feathery scratch she can’t even believe it. If they can say o yes they did, they’ll glady take care of it with their insurance. There not lying. Whoever these people are she does not know, but if they can prove that they did it they will gladly take care of it, no problem at all but stop calling it an accident, they didn’t leave an accident scene trust her on this.
Based upon the foregoing information, there is probable cause to believe that the defendant did commit the crime or offense as stated above.
Wherefore, I request the issuance of an arrest warrant and an order for a duly authorized officer to take the defendant and bring him/her before the court having jurisdiction.

Supporting Affidavit For Request To Issue Arrest Warrant
State of New Hampshire
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY DERRY DISTRICT COURT
10/08/2009
I, DETECTIVE ADAM W DYER , being duly sworn, herewith make application for the issuance of an Arrest warrant against the defendant:
Defendant’s Name: RONALD LARIVIERE
DOB: 01/03/1955
I am a Detective for the Londonderry Police Department, where I have been employed as a Police Officer for over 7 years. In addition, I am a graduate of the New Hampshire full-time Police Standards and Training Council academy and have prior law enforcement experience with the Sandown, NH Police Department, as well as 5 years with the United States Army, as a Military Police Officer. I have spent the last 30 Months as a Criminal Investigator in the Detective Division. I have information that the crime of Criminal threatning has been committed by the defendant as follows:
1. On October 07, 2009, at approximately 2:00pm, I responded to the station to speak with a subject in reference to a criminal threatening report. Upon my arrival at the station, I met with the complainant, Michael Lariviere. Michael was at the station to make a formal complaint against his brother, Ronald Lariviere. The formal complaint involved threatening and harassing emails Ronald had been sending Michael via the internet. Michael had printed out the emails in question and turned them over as evidence. Michael stated he was in fear for his safety because of these emails and didn’t know what his brother was capable of doing.
2. In reviewing the emails, I noted that Ronald appeared highly agitated and his writings were full of profanity and insults towards Michael and his family. Ronald reference’s Michael’s “xxx” son and refers to his son as “Michael I xxxx xxxx daily”. I noted that one of the emails sent on October 06, 2009 at 2:42pm stated “If I see you anywhere I will first spit in your face and find the closest object to destroy your existence on this planet”. Copies of these emails were taken as evidence and placed into the case file. I referred Michael to the Derry District Court for a restraining order and advised him the case would be investigated. Michael returned later in the day and had been issued a restraining order against his brother.
3. On October 08, 2009, at approximately 4:30pm, I contacted Roger Lariviere via his home telephone in North Providence Rhode Island. Roger answered the phone and I spoke with him about this investigation. Roger informed me that he had been emailing his brother and that he had no excuse but anger for his emails. Roger stated he was sorry for what he wrote and that he was no physical threat to his brother because he was on medication. I asked Roger why he would say and write such things to his brother and read verbatim from his email, “If I see you anywhere I will first spit in your face and find the closest object to destroy your existence on this planet”. Roger said he didnt mean it and wouldn’t actually do it. Roger said he was very mad and had no excuse for what he had done. Roger stated he wouldn’t do it again. I asked Roger why he was so angry and what was this all about. Roger said it was stupid and wouldn’t go on further.
4. Roger also confirmed that the local Police had been to his residence, but he was in the shower when they came by. I asked Roger to contact his local department and allow them to serve the paperwork to him and abide by the restraining order.
Based upon the foregoing information, there is probable cause to believe that the defendant did commit the crime or offense as stated above.
Wherefore, I request the issuance of an arrest warrant and an order for a duly authorized officer to take the defendant and bring him/her before the court having jurisdiction.

CALLED ADVSD A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO (APPROX 1300 HRS)SHE CAN SWEAR SOMEONE WAS IN THE HOUSE. SHE WORKS FROM HOME AND HER HOME OFFICE IS UPSTAIRS ON THE SECOND FLOOR. WHILE WORKING SHE HEARD A “SIGNIFICANT NOISE” LIKE A CHAIR BEING TIPPED OVER. SHE GOT UP AND CHECKED THE DOWNSTAIRS INTERIOR OF THE HOME KNOWING THAT THE DOORS HAD BEEN UNLOCKED. AFTER BEING “FREAKED OUT” BY THE NOISE SHE LOCKED ALL THE DOORS AND WENT BACK TO WORK. HER SON THEN CAME HOME ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, AND THEY BOTH CHECKED THE INTERIOR OF THE HOME AND FOUND NO ONE INSIDE. HOWEVER, WHEN CHECKED THE SLIDER DOOR AGAIN, SHE FOUND IT UNLOCKED. SHE IS SURE SHE LOCKED THE SLIDER AFTER CHECKING THE DOWNSTAIRS THE FIRST TIME.
STRONGLY BELIEVES THERE WAS SOMEONE IN THE HOUSE WHO LET HIMSELF OUT THROUGH THE SLIDER WHEN B/T THE TIME SHE CHECKED THE DOWNSTAIRS BY HERSELF AND THE TIME HER SON CAME HOME.
SHE WOULD LIKE THE AREA EXTRA PATROLLED AND WILL CALL IF SHE HEARS ANYTHING FURTHER IN HER HOME.

I read the story about John Robbins and I certainly wouldn’t want my full name printed ANYWHERE in which it indicates that I had anything to do with that friekazoid going to jail. Many years ago I worked at a bank that was robbed and the local newspaper printed the name of my fellow bank teller who identified the robber. She was terrified for a long time. Perhaps we should be protecting the innocent local hero’s by not publishing their names in cases like this. I’m just saying~

Agree, normally we try to take out id that is in the public record when appropriate. While we have made an edit it is public record and in the hands of others.

As it relates to the bystander that jumped in as you say, he is a local hero in our book!
