This Week
Friday, November 20 ENTER THE HAGGIS
There aren’t many groups in North America who could lay claim to possibly 18 different genres of music, but Toronto’s Enter The Haggis is one of them. To engage this quintet is to indulge rock, fusion, bluegrass, traditional Celtic fare, agitpop, folk, even Latin flavors. Sounds awfully confused, right? Wrong. ETH is one of those rare jewels that actually pulls it all off as if to own everything. ETH’s live show is a musical feast- viscerally dynamic, emotionally uplifting and intellectually stimulating.

Saturday, November 21 SHAWN COLVIN – Two Shows!
In an era when female singer-songwriters are ever more ubiquitous, GRAMMY WINNING Shawn Colvin stands out as a singular and enduring talent. Her songs are slow-release works of craft and catharsis that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners. As a storyteller, Colvin is both keen and warm-hearted, leavening even the toughest tales with tenderness, empathy, and a searing sense of humor. In the 19 years since the release of her debut album, Colvin has won three Grammy Awards, released eight albums, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule, appeared on countless television and radio programs, had her songs featured in major motion pictures, and created a remarkable cannon of work. In 1996, she released A Few Small Repairs, which would prove to be her breakthrough. The murder-ballad “Sunny Came Home” gave Colvin a Top 10 hit and two of Grammy’s biggest honors: Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

Sunday, November 22 DUKE ROBILLARD
Inspired by blues legends like T-Bone Walker, Charlie Patton and Big Joe Turner, Duke’s guitar work has seamlessly spanned the worlds of jazz, blues, and swing since he founded the renowned big band, Roomful of Blues, in 1967. Duke has recorded twenty acclaimed solo albums and toured the world both with his own band and also as Jimmie Vaughan’s replacement in The Fabulous Thunderbirds. In addition to his own recordings, Duke has played on and/or produced albums by Bob Dylan (1997′s Grammy-winning Time Out of Mind), Ruth Brown, Johnny Adams, Kim Wilson, Jay McShann, Pinetop Perkins, John Hammond, Jimmy Witherspoon, Snooky Pryor and many more. Called “one of the great players” by the legendary B.B. King, Duke is a 4 time winner for Best Guitarist at the Blues Music Awards and his live show is a masterful display of a wide variety of blues styles.

Saturday, April 3 JUDY COLLINS
Judy Collins was born in May, 1939 in Seattle, Washington. She began as a classical pianist, with her first performance at the age of 13. Soon after that, however, she discovered the work of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and other folk singers, and fell in love with traditional and contemporary topical music. When she was 22, she released her debut album. She began her career singing both traditional songs and contemporary folk tunes written by songwriters like Bob Dylan and Phil Ochs. She also brought great attention to songs by artists like Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell. It wasn’t until 1967 that she began recording her own original compositions. She has received two Grammy Awards and an Academy Award Nomination. She has made 39 records, and continues to tour internationally.
