Londonderry Honors Veterans in Prayer and School

Londonderry Schools are closed today in honor of Veterans Day.  Rather than a long weekend a moment in the middle of the week to honor those that have served our country.  Yes a day off, but with reminders, announcements and even lessons on the importance of those that served our country.  On Saturday November 14th hundreds of students in uniform will be with the American Legion Post 27 to march to the common and stand at attention as they hear from USMC, Major Dan Tamburello as he provides what is expected to be over 1000 people a motivational speech on those that protect our country.

This morning we have many searching the site for a “Benediction for Veterans Day,” while we do not have one published we have one first done by Jack Martin for Memorial Day in 2007.  For your use and with Jack’s blessing we publish it as Londonderry Reflects on the service of Londonderry Veterans who have served or are serving somewhere in the world.

Jack Martin, Chaplin American Legion Post 27, Londonderry, New HampshireGod manifests his spirit and great love in each of us. For he created us in his image, in his divine image. He created us male and female. He created us, and we were created just a little bit less than the angels and crowned with Gods glory.

There is no greater love than this, to lay down ones life for his friends. This is the reason we are here this day, to give tribute, respect, remembrance and honor to the gallant men and women of our armed forces who obtained Gods glory by laying down their lives for us and others who called upon their help. For they carried themselves as soldiers and they did it with Gods grace.

May God bless their very souls and protect those soldiers who now stand in harms way. Pray to your God as I do to mine, may God bless this country in his love. May God clothe this country in his care. May God forever hold us and ours in his holy embrace and grant us peace for God and for Country.

God Bless America, Amen.

Jack Martin American Legion Post 27
