Continental 18 Wheeler Rolls Over on 102 Bridge at Route 93 Exit 4 in Londonderry NH Nov 4th 2009

At about noon Londonderry Fire released the rescue unit and the medic for other calls.  Engines remain on scene managing the spill of hot asphalt.  The material is listed as “3257 HOT” in placards on the vehicle.  This unique slide show provides a view of the accident scene just 20 minuets after it occurred.

If the slide show is not working you can visit our Darkroom HERE to play the film from the event.

On the scene the 18 wheeler is rolled over and up against the sidewalk on the westbound side of the bridge closest to the Exit 4 on ramp to 93.  This is just across from the Burger King.  The roadway is open in both directions with only one lane westbound over the bridge.

Tire marks in the roadway leading to the tipped over 18 wheeler indicate that the truck was entering route 102 westbound from the Exit 4 off ramp when it tipped and rolled onto the sidewalk just before the bridge.

Once they start draining the hot tar from the trailer unit Route 102 westbound will be closed over the bridge.  They will be setting up a reader board at the plaza by Londonderry Road to reroute traffic later this afternoon.  Watch our Breaking News for further information.

Pump trucks and tow trucks have arrived at the scene to start offloading fuel.

PLEASE GOOGLE “DEFORMABLE KINGPIN” that explains a simple to understand solution to forbid a tractor to follow into destruction during rollover events. The concept is the same as to why you have fuses or circuit breakers in electrical systems in your home, office or car — a failsafe — to prevent further destruction. This innovation is a simple modification of a component, the trailer’s coupling kingpin, whose design has been a standard for over 70 years, which can be made to deform and not allow an extremely stable tractor to follow to destruction when the trailer, that is the dominant controlling force, is in IMMINENT peril for rollover, that includes also blown over tractor trailers. The NHTSA & FMCSA continue to turn their backs and ignore their past funded research conclusions, as the trucking industry evolves greater unstable tractor trailers on our highways that have a primary attribute for increasing payload capacity. These catastrophes will continue to occur in thousands of accidents of this type each year as they have in the past, and continue to cause infrastructure damage that will harm and kill many hundreds of tractor occupants annually. These combination vehicles are incendiary bombs when carrying flammable material in tankers, and the flash point for these fires starts with the tractor’s involvement. A statement received from the FMCSA states “There are a variety of technologies for preventing rollover crashes and we believe motor carriers should have as much flexibility as possible in selecting technologies to prevent crashes.” Clearly the fox is allowed to guard the hen house!!! The harm, death & destruction will continue with combination vehicle rollover accidents. Donald J. Kaleta

Rant…Another Federal Tax credit? Wow, as if giving new buyers an 8K credit wasn’t enough now we are going to give $ 6,500 if you lived in a house for 5 years and want to buy a new one? If I haven’t said it before, this flys in the face of every homeowner who did it the hard way, self included. Honestly, what is wrong with our goverment? Perhaps they don’t know these is such tools as a Form 1040, W2, Form 1098, etc. In which you can see things like: Gross income, Aig, Insurance costs, Principal paid on mortage, Interest, Local taxes. Basically, all the info needed to determine (or verify); if oh lets just say; if someone was paying over 30% (or 40%) of thier AIG for home ownership. Perhaps these people could use a credit? No, that doesn’t help falsely inflate numbers. Make no mistake the repeal of the GLass-Stegall act, which allowed SPECULATION”, was the cause of “how we got here”. The Goverment (and State) continue to “SPECULATE” i.e: if we do this, that should be the result. This by definition is “SPECULATION”. Speculate with your own money! Have only myself to blame as I voted for this current administration. Perhaps in a capitolistic society a market is allowed to correct itself? Have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going! Done…
