Old Home Day Senior Night in Londonderry, New Hampshire last night attracted 200 seniors and a few special guests too. With the possibility of rain on the horizon organizers changed the venue at 1pm in the afternoon. While many did not know, they were pointed the right direction when arriving at the Londonderry Lions hall with a quick a-frame sign. Those that did find out were actually pleased they would not need to battle off the pesky mosquitoes so prevalent this time of year!

Did you know?
Londonderry tests during the season to see if IEEE or West Nile Virus is found in mosquitoes in town. When they are the community will spray to reduce the impact of the contacting a insect carrying the infectious disease.
The cafe was outfitted with large round banquet tables providing a cabaret style setting. Gathered in familiar groups many seniors mixed and made the rounds following a outstanding meal by the Londonderry Lions volunteers. The Lions cook each year in support of this community event. This time a fleet of “rag tag” trucks and a trailer moved all the cooking supplies to just outside the cafe. There a “Milk ‘N It” dairy company truck parked nearby providing tasty ice cream cups for desert. Just the look on some faces you could tell it has been some time since they scooped into a container with a old fashion flat wooden spoon.
The High School staff set up a stage for the Windham Swing Band so all could see and hear the period music. A chance meeting between Micky Mouse and Governor Lynch resulted in some negotiations on the Pettengill Road project off the airport access road. It appears Micky is interested in appropriate economic development in Londonderry and as we all know you don’t mess with the mouse! The Governor spent hours with the seniors traveling table to table and having in depth conversations about the state of the state and the nation too. The direction health care is taking was a common theme overheard as we shot photos of the event.
