Londonderry Fire Rescues and Reunites Duckling Family

Animal Rescue On the morning of July 9, 2014 the Londonderry Fire Rescue Department was dispatched to the area of 12 Morrison Dr. to investigate a report of a family of ducklings trapped in a storm drain.

Rescue Company 1 was dispatched to investigate and found 5 ducklings had fallen approximately 6-8 feet into a storm water catch basin.

While this did present an unusual rescue scenario Lt. Gary Dion made use of his knowledge of the area and went to Aquatic Adventures Scuba Shop to get a long handled pool net to remove the ducklings.

The storm drain grate was removed and the crew from Rescue 1 successfully removed all of the ducklings and reunited them with their mother who was waiting nearby at the woods.

The family of ducklings was unharmed and left the scene under their own power and without any apparent injuries.
