August 15 and 16 NICK LOWE
Nick Lowe has made his mark as a producer (Elvis Costello-Graham Parker-Pretenders-The Damned), songwriter of at least three songs you know by heart (including “Cruel To Be Kind”) , short-lived career as a pop star, and a lengthy term as a musicians’ musician. But in his current ‘second act’ as a silver-haired, tender-hearted but sharp-tongued singer-songwriter, he has no equal.  If that’s not enough, two-time Grammy Nominated KIM RICHEY opens the show! October 12 FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE, SOUL ASYLUM, & EVAN DANDO
(This show is at The Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy.)
Three iconic alternative pop/rock acts will hit the road together this fall: Fountains Of Wayne, Soul Asylum, and Evan Dando of The Lemonheads. Each will bring along their own deep catalog of melodic, guitar-driven songs, including a handful of bonafide pop smashes.

Fountains Of Wayne have released five critically lauded LPs, beginning with their self-titled 1996 debut, which spawned modern rock hits like “Radiation Vibe” and “Sink To The Bottom”. But, ironically, it was their third album, 2003′s Welcome Interstate Managers, that earned them a Best New Artist Grammy nomination, as well as a pop breakthrough with the single “Stacy’s Mom.” Listen

Minneapolis’ Soul Asylum started out recording for legendary indie Twin-Tone in the mid-80s, but achieved multiplatinum major-label success in the 90s with their albums Grave Dancers Union and Let Your Dim Light Shine, which contained hit singles like “Runaway Train”, “Somebody To Shove”, and “Misery”. Listen

Evan Dando has been fronting The Lemonheads since he was a teenager in Boston in the mid-80s. After signing with Atlantic Records in the 90s, the band had a string of alternative and college radio hits, became MTV staples with their cover of “Mrs. Robinson”, and Dando graced the covers of countless magazines. Listen

October 20 ENGLISH BEAT
Formed in Birmingham (UK) in 1978, this much loved multi-racial sextet (Dave Wakeling, guitar/vocals; Rankin’ Roger, vocals; Andy Cox, guitar; Dave Steel, bass; Everett Moreton, drums; Saxa, saxophone) took the Specials’ blueprint and added high-spirited pop appeal, all spiced up with a ska authenticity provided by legendary bluebeat saxophonist Saxa.

February 2003 saw a dream come true for many Beat fans as the band reunited for a mini-tour in the UK, which culminated in their acclaimed, sold out command performance at the Royal Festival Hall! It was a magical homecoming for the band and for the fans, with band members and fans gathering from around the globe for a night or irie, ska-ful rock-steady Beat!

Being the hard driving ska legend that he is, however, Dave was not content to rest on his laurels after the RFH reunion. Dave continues to tour the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the UK with an amazing all-star ska backing band playing the hits of The Beat, General Public, and his new songs.
