The Summer Playground Program returns to Londonderry this July, offering children the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities with children of similar ages and interests.
Daily activities will include arts and crafts, games, sports, playground and break time, and at times special guests. The special guest may include a police officer to talk about safety, a baton twirling show, story teller or bicycle safety. Typically there are two field trips planned during each summer. Each day will also have a special theme.
The program is open to the children of Londonderry who will be entering first grade in the upcoming fall and for children up to age of 14. Children are grouped by age and by interest and are supervised in small groups by an experienced staff.
There is no preregistration for the program, but rather parents may register their children the first day of attendance. Hours of the program are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to noon and from 1 PM to 3 PM. Once registered the children may attend as much or as little as they desire.
Cost of the program is $40.00 per child, $50.00 for two children in the same family and $60.00 for three or more children in the same family. Accommodations will be made for any families in financial difficulty. Field trips do involve an additional cost
The program is held each summer at the Matthew Thornton Elementary School and will begin on Monday, July 8, 2013, and will run for 5 weeks, ending Friday, August 8th.
