The New Hampshire Women’s Weekend League, a USTA sponsored league, ended their season with the 4th annual Diva Doubles Tennis Tournament on Saturday, January 26. Almost 100 New Hampshire women competed in this statewide tennis tournament to crown the new Diva Champions. The finals were held at the Greater Manchester YMCA in Goffstown. There were champions crowned at 2 levels of women doubles team, 3.0, & 3.5.
The preliminary rounds for the 3.0 women was played January 13 at Seacoast Indoor Tennis Club in Hampton. The 3.5 women played their preliminary rounds on January 12 at Hampshire Hills in Milford. Winners of the round robin preliminary round were determined by most games won in a 8 game pro set.
The 3.0 winners were Londonerry Residents, Andrea Sullivan & Noni Kirby from Executive Health & Sport Center. They won 8-2 over Leslie Cliche & .Barbara Carlton from the Hampton Tennis Barn.
The 3.5 winners were Jan Bushold & Marie Stevens from Concord Racket Club. They won 8-4over runners up Joanne Masters & Pam Watson from Executive Health & Sport Center
During preliminaries and final rounds a raffle was held to benefit the Asperger’s Association of New England. The New Hampshire Women’s Weekend League raised $828.00 by raffling off prizes donated by the players.
