Applewood Learning Center in Londonderry Celebrates the Number 12

The children of The Applewood Learning Center in Londonderry celebrated a once in a lifetime opportunity on December 12, 2012.  They created the number 12 together as a community.  This was a truly meaningful experience to learn about the number 12!  After they created the number, the children were able to revisit the experience by examining the photograph that was taken.  They were excited to see themselves in the picture as part of a greater whole.

At Applewood we strive to create real-world experiences for children to learn and play.  This helps embed the learning in children’s lives and ultimately fosters deeper learning.  Applewood has been able to accomplish so much because of the commitment the families and staff make to Applewood.  It is this commitment that distinguishes Applewood from other programs.  Our staff of Early Childhood professionals provides direct care and education of our children, while the voluntary and active participation of our families assists us in all other aspects – from serving on the Board of Directors to participating on committees to painting to fundraising.

As we live out our mission, we hope to become recognized as the model for early childhood care and to have our expertise in early childhood development be utilized as a resource by the community.

Today, The Applewood Learning Center is the only self-supporting non-profit [IRS 501 (c) (3)] child care center in the Londonderry/Derry area. If you would like more information about Applewood it can be found on their website at www.applewoodlc.org.
