Stolen Vehicle Search Ends with Collision and Arrest

A Londonderry Police Officer came head on with a stolen vehicle this afternoon on a one way street, evoking a short search that ended with a rolled vehicle and an arrest.

At about noon today, August 9, 2012, an officer reported a wrong-way driver in the one way section of Wilson Road. The officer reported a dark Camaro had almost hit his cruiser head on then took off at a high rate of speed. Fellow officers responded to the area to help locate the vehicle.

The Camaro was quickly found after hitting another vehicle head on in the area of Walton Circle and Old Derry Road. One of the vehicles involved (though it is unclear at this point which) rolled and snapped a telephone pole.

Both Londonderry Police and Fire Departments responded and began investigating. While on the scene, police reported that the suspect was intoxicated and later determined that the Camaro was stolen from Manchester just this morning.

The car hit by the suspect had one person that was transported to Elliot Medical Center; another from the suspect car was also transported to Elliot. Londonderry police later arrested the suspect at the hospital.

Auburn Road in the area of Walton Circle has been shut down since the incident occurred, while crews tow the involved vehicles and PSNH assists with the scene.
