Police Capt. Jason Newman said the man’s identity hasn’t been confirmed.
The body was found by a nonprofit K-9 search team that was looking for a missing Rollinsford man about 10 a.m. Saturday, Newman said.
While searching the area, the K-9 search team was led to a heavily wooded area about 100 to 200 yards behind the theater site, Newman said. The team immediately contacted New Hampshire Fish and Game officials, who notified Epping police.
The Medical Examiner’s Office went to the scene.
The discovery follows searches that began after Ronald Bond, 59, was last seen on Aug. 23 when he left for work in Salem. His 2001 tan Ford Taurus was found abandoned in the park-and-ride commuter lot on Route 125. Police have said they do not suspect foul play in his disappearance.
The park-and-ride is across the street from the Brickyard Square shopping center, where the new theater is under construction and the body was discovered, but Newman stressed that no positive identification has been made. He said the state Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death and positively identify the man.
Newman said the death doesn’t appear suspicious at this time.
Searches being conducted in Rollinsford. NH for Mr. Ronald Bond, age 59. His family fears for his well-being as this is out of his character. On Thursday, August 23, 2012 he left for work in Salem, NH as any other work day. This time he left his cell phone at home. Unbeknown to his family he took a vacation day at work and it is not known where he went or what has happened. When he did not return from work his wife filed a missing persons report. His vehicle was later found abandoned in an Epping parking lot. NH Fish & Game, as well as the Rollinsford Police Department, have ongoing searches. They ask the public to please look for Mr. Bond and if you spot him, or have information, to please contact them.
