Great New England Airshow at Westover ARB

Every 2 years the Galaxy Community Council puts on an airshow. Every airshow it’s held at either Westover ARB in Chicopee, MA or at Barnes ANGB in Westfield, MA. Westover is home to the 439th Airlift Wing which comprises of the mighty C-5 transport aircraft. Barnes is home to the 104th Fighter Wing which is comprised of F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft.

This year August 4th and 5th, the event will be held at the home of the Patriot Wing, Westover ARB. Westover is the largest Air Force Reserve Base and is currently home to 16 C-5 aircraft. Gates will open at 8:30am each day. The ride to Westover is a long one, at just under two and a half hours from Londonderry. You will want to make sure you get there early as the lines get very long waiting for the gates to open.

The airshow plans on having over 60 aircraft at this show which is quite amazing since there is no major jet team involved this year. Instead we’ll have great demos from the F/A-18 Tac Demo, F-15′s from Barnes, C-5B , MV-22 Osprey, KC-10 Air Refueling aircraft, The Black Daggers Parachute TeamMichael Goulian, Rob Holland, The Iron Eagles and many more. The air show’s theme this year is “A Salute to the Greatest Generation.”
