The 300+ members of the Londonderry Lancer Marching Band and Colorguard wrapped up their annual Band Camp Thursday with a special salute to honor the 40th year of The Londonderry Music Department. Band members sported a custom ’40 years’ pin to commemorate the occasion. Framed with the LHS Music Program’s motto “ …and you had a good time!”, the pins commemorate 40 years of Londonderry Music under the direction of Andy Soucy since he joined the district in 1972.
Over the past 40 years the LHS Music Program has grown to include Marching Band, Colorguard, Orchestra, Choral, Jazz, and Drumline. Students have certainly ‘…had a good time’ over the years as they participated in four Tournament of Rose Parades, an Orange Bowl parade, Celtics, Patriot, & Monarch’s games, NASCAR races, China (including a memorable performance on the Great Wall), the Berklee & UNH Jazz Fests, events in Williamsburg, Washington, DC, NYC and many more.
The Marching Lancer’s will participate in the Londonderry Old Home Day Parade on Saturday and will perform their ‘Chicago’ field show on Friday September 7th at 7pm during the LHS Lancer Football home opener versus Alvirne. In April of 2013 all of the LHS Music groups will perform in DisneyWorld in Florida.
Congratulations (and many thanks) to the Lancer’s Music Director Andy Soucy on his 40th year of bringing music to Londonderry!
A limited number of pins are available for $10 from Friends of Music. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to get yours!
