On June 27, 2012, at approximately 5:30pm, NH State Police – Troop B received a report of a car fire in the parking lot at the southbound Windham Scales on Interstate 93.
Trooper Sean Harrington arrived within 2 minutes of the call and observed that a 2012 Mazda A6 was fully engulfed in flames. Located immediately adjacent to the vehicle, on the passenger side, was a male subject lying on the pavement. The subject, identified as Mark Vivier (age 39) from Methuen, Massachusetts was on fire and was being assisted by a passerby. Vivier was pulled away from the vehicle and the flames were extinguished on his person.
Vivier suffered significant burns over a large portion of his body. He was treated by Windham Paramedics and airlifted by DART to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Mr. Vivier was pronounced deceased on June 28th as a result of those injuries.
The Windham Fire Department responded and extinguished the vehicle fire.
The cause of this fire is currently being investigated by the New Hampshire State Police – Troop B with the assistance of the State Fire Marshall’s Office. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Trooper Sean Harrington at 603-223-4381.
