Softball and Baseball Signup Events Approach!

Londonderry Athletic and Field Association, or more commonly known as LAFA, will once again be hosting their spring baseball and softball signups this upcoming Saturday, January 7, 2012. Signups will take place in the Middle School cafeteria on Mammoth Road from 9 AM until 12 PM.

Certain restrictions apply when signing up:

  • Children who wish to play this year must be 5 by April 30, 2012.
  • Participants cannot be older than 15, or 17 for girls by January 1, 2012.
  • Parents and legal guardians must register all applicants.
  • All new applicants must provide a copy of their birth certificate.

This year’s fees are $90 per child, or $75 for children 5 to 8 years old, with a family maximum of $200. At the time of registration, each player will be given $25 worth of raffle tickets, with a family maximum of $75. When the player sells the raffle tickets, the money is kept by the player and the stubs are returned to the Concession stand by June 1, 2012. By selling the raffle tickets, the cost of the program is reduced to $65 or $50 for five to eight year olds.

A second registration will be held on January 14, 2012, also at the Middle School from 9 AM until 12 PM. A late registration event will be held, again at the Middle School, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, from 6 until 7:30 PM.

All applicants will be placed on a waiting list after January 18. Late registrants will not receive raffle tickets.

To help operate such a large program with more than 1500 children, parents will be asked to assist for three to four hours of service. Parents can volunteer for this time when signing their children up at any of the registration events.

The objective of LAFA is to improve and refine player’s skills, encourage sportsmanship, and develop an enjoyment for baseball and softball. LAFA is a volunteer run organization dependent on parent participation for successful operation. We are affiliated with the Babe Ruth League, Inc. and the Cal Ripken League. Our Complex consists of 10 baseball and softball fields. We have about 1500 children on 116 teams that participate in our recreational baseball and softball leagues . We have a full service Concession Stand to serve everyone. For more information visit the LAFA website.
