Local to Perform During Raymond Farmer’s Market

The instrumental duo Banjos & Old Lace will provide musical entertainment as part of the Raymond Winter Farmer’s Market on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The farmer’s market will be held at the Lamprey Elementary School from 10 AM to 2 PM. Members of the band include guitarist and banjo player Robert Phillipps from the Boston area and singer/instrumentalist Sarah Jane Nelson from Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Banjos & Old Lace perform classic banjo pieces for piano and banjo as well as Old Time southern tunes for fiddle and guitar. Phillipps is a regular feature at coffee houses throughout Massachusetts, and has been a first place winner at the Lowell Banjo & Fiddle Contest in recent years.

Nelson is also a member of the Gypsy Minor dance band and can be heard at barn dances and folk festivals across New England. She recently performed at Londonderry’s Art In Action, a semi-annual event in town where artists and craftspeople display and demonstrate their work and talent. The video below was filmed during Art in Action, which was held at Mack’s Apples.

The event at the Raymond Winter Farmer’s Market is free of charge, although donations to the music will be gratefully accepted.
