It was Father’s Day weekend, the sun was shining and Londonderry Lightning’s 10U team defended their Championship title and won the 6th Annual Rochester Summer Slammer Softball Tournament.
The squad earned the top seed and was matched against local rival, Litchfield Blast, in the final game. Lightning racked up 3 runs early on, but Litchfield battled back. The game’s final score was 3-2. This was the second consecutive tournament in which the team won a spot in the finals and was matched up with Litchfield for the title
The Rochester Tournament is an ASA (Amateur Softball Association) sanctioned event. More than 20 teams, from as far away as New York, came to compete across 10U to 18U divisions.
“Each and every one of my players contributed to defending our title and winning this Championship,” said Pete Misiaszek, Head Coach. “The girls played with a lot of heart. I’m proud of them.”
