Public Service of New Hampshire and the NH Electric Cooperative are advising their customers in the Greater Derry area of the need to undertake a planned power outage in the evening on Tuesday, May 24, between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Although a 2-hour time period has been reserved in order to move a new substation on Scobie Pond Road into service, the actual power outage should take up to 15 minutes, if installation and testing goes as planned. In the event of rain, the outage will take place on Wednesday, May 25.
The outage will affect approximately 4,300 PSNH customers in the downtown region of Derry and another 250 PSNH customers in Londonderry in the Seasons Lane area near the Derry border. Approximately 1,350 NH Electric Cooperative members will be affected in Derry, Londonderry, Chester and Auburn.
During the outage, PSNH engineers and technicians will be conducting final tests of the new Scobie Pond distribution substation, which has an in-service date of June 1, 2011 to prepare for the summer peak season.
