This weekend kicks off the annual Beautify Londonderry campaign. This effort runs for the next month and brings both young and old members of the community together to make the town a cleaner and more beautiful place to work, live and play.
Volunteer groups work to remove trash and litter from roadsides. Some groups focus on raking, weeding and planting at school grounds and fields and other popular areas of town. These include the Morrison House complex, the Town Common, the Senior Center and the Kendall Pond and Musquash Conservation areas.
Beautify Londonderry begins April 23, 2011 and will end May 22, 2011! Become a volunteer or sponsor to help this wonderful campaign.
Beautify Londonderry is accomplished with help from both volunteers and sponsors. Gloves, safety vests, trash and recycling bags, mulch and plants are made available with the help from sponsors. Londonderry Police and the Highway Department provide assistance during roadside litter cleanups to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.
