Arrests and a Naked Gunman in Londonderry Last Week

Police Log for 06/03/10-06/09/10

A distraught woman arrived at the station at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on June 5th claiming her ex-boyfriend was taking her daughter to Florida without her permission. Police contacted the suspect over the phone. The man stated he was on Brown Ave and was told to report to the airport. According to the log, “it was determined that it was not kidnapping, but suspect was subsequently arrested.” He was charged with Driving after Revocation or Suspension and Drivers License Prohibitions. The police report indicated that the “Daughter was reunited with her mother.”

Michael Jardine, of Derry, NH, was arrested on June 8th for his involvement in the imprisonment and drugs at a Londonderry party in April. He is the fourth young man to be arrested from this one incident, which involved nine people that were forced to stay in an upstairs bedroom and drugs, drug paraphernalia, and plants in the basement of the house. To read the extensive stories about the three other arrests and get the full story, follow these links: Derry Man Charged With False Imprisonment of 9 Others (includes the full story about the assault that took place during the party that led to the discovery of drugs at the house.); Londonderry Man Arrested for Drug Offenses, 22 Pieces of Evidence Found (includes a more extensive look at the drugs found at the house, including a complete list of the evidence police took into custody during their search). Michael Jardine was charged with one count False Imprisonment and one count of Possession of Controlled/Narcotic Drugs for his involvement.

An officer reported to headquarters on the night of June 4th at approximately 11:02 PM, that a passerby “reported a male subject, naked, walking with a rifle behind the sleep inn, in the field.” Several units were deployed, including New Hampshire State Police, and units from the airport. “Extensive search efforts were made over the course of several hours but nothing was ever found. Only one call was ever received reporting the suspicious subject and no evidence was found that anyone was ever in the area as described,” stated Londonderry Police Lieutenant Saunders. To read more about the search efforts and listen to some of the audio from this night, go to Naked Gunman at Londonderry Sleep Inn Search, Nothing Found.

Each week, Londonderry Hometown Online News will publish the police logs for your review. We will also pick the most interesting of the stories. If there are any that you found interesting or funny and think they should be in the top three, feel free to contact us.

While we also create original stories from information in the police log and other sources, we offer you nearly the entire Londonderry police blotter! At times we remove small pieces of information like phone numbers or obscene language. When other media outlets only provide their “Selections” from the log, if you select “read more” you select what interests you in Londonderry.

State of New Hampshire
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY DERRY DISTRICT COURT
05/25/2010
I, DETECTIVE SCOTT D BALUKONIS , being duly sworn, herewith make application for the issuance of an Arrest warrant against the defendant:
Defendant’s Name: MICHAEL JARDINE
DOB: 08/17/1988
I have information that the crime of Possession of a Controlled Drug, and False Imprisonment has been committed by the defendant as follows: (describe source, facts indicating reliability and credibility of source, and nature of information; if based in personal knowledge, so state):
I, Detective Scott Balukonis, do hereby depose and say: I am a full-time police officer and detective with the Londonderry, New Hampshire Police Department, where I have been employed as a police officer for more than 7 years. I was graduated from the 129th session of the NH Police Academy and hold a Bachelor of Science degree. I have been a Field Training Officer for the Londonderry Police Department for three years and have trained many new officers. I am also a member of the Technical Accident Reconstruction Team having completed numerous accident investigation courses. I completed an intensive three day drug investigation school conducted by the High Intensity Drug Task Force. I have made numerous misdemeanor and felony arrests. I have attended many in service training classes. I am investigating Michael Jardine for 1) Possession of a Controlled Drug and 2) False Imprisonment, the facts and circumstances of which are as follows:
1) On 4/10/10 at approximately 7:30 am, I responded to 280 Winding Pond Road, Londonderry NH to assist in processing a crime scene. Upon arrival, I spoke with Sergeant Jason Breen of the Londonderry Police Department. He stated that at approximately 2:30 am, they responded to this address for a disturbance. When they arrived on scene, the found several vehicles in front of the residence, but nobody would answer the door when they knocked. They suspected that there were several people inside of the house. They then received information that at least one teenage female was inside being held against her will. A father had arrived on scene stated his daughter, CR had sent him text messages stating she wanted to go home, but she was not allowed to leave.
2) Once a search warrant was issued, officers made entry into the residence around 5:53 am, and found numerous people inside the house. There appeared to be an underage drinking party, and officers also discovered multiple marijuana plants growing in the basement. They also saw in plain view in the basement, marijuana smoking pipes and a white powder on a NH license. Nine victims of False Imprisonment were found lying on the floor in AS’s bedroom. They were identified as: JC, AG, SM, CR, SS, JA, ASm, CS, and SL. Some of their parents were already on scene waiting for officers to make entry into the house to rescue their children. Other parents were called after officers entered the house. All of the minors were released to parents.
3) The suspects that unlawfully held the victims in AS’s bedroom were identified as Michael Jardine, Matthew Shea, his brother Edward Casey Shea and Larry Delgado.
4) After I spoke with Sergeant Breen, I went into the basement. Detective LaDuke of the Londonderry Police Department had been protecting the scene since entry was made into the residence. I observed several marijuana smoking pipes lying out in the open, and I could detect a very strong odor of marijuana. I also saw Michael Jardine’s New Hampshire driver’s license on an end table next to a couch. The license had white powder on it, and on top of the license was a tightly rolled one dollar bill. Through training and experience I knew that the white powder was possibly cocaine or other similar looking drug and the tightly rolled dollar bill was used to snort the drug through the nose. I also observed a cut corner of a plastic baggie on the floor behind a clothing bureau. Through training and experience I knew that narcotics are often packaged in cut corners of plastic bags.
5) On 4/17/10, I called all nine of the people that were discovered in AS’s bedroom. I asked them to come to the station to speak to me in regards to how they were unlawfully held in AS’s bedroom.
6) ASm was the first person to come to the station. She stated she was friends with AS and was invited to AS’s birthday party on 4/9/10. During the party, AS’s brothers and his friends got into a fight with JC’s boyfriend outside the residence. After the fight they all came inside. Michael, Matthew, Casey, and Larry told all of AS’s friends to go upstairs into AS’s bedroom, turn off the lights, lie down on the floor, and be quiet. ASm also said that of the four older guys, Michael and Casey were most often in the bedroom. They looked out the windows a lot trying to see where the cops were located. During the night, CR and JC tried to leave because their parents were outside. When they got up to leave, Michael and Casey “Wouldn’t let them leave.” Michael, Casey, Mathew and Larry told CR and JC that if they left the house, they “Would screw everyone over.” ASm wrote that by saying these things, it basically forced or convinced CR and JC to stay in the house. She also stated that Michael took her cell phone, but gave it back to her moments before the police entered the house.
7) Next, I spoke with CR. She said that AS invited her to her birthday party. After the fight she went upstairs to AS’s bedroom. CR stated that Matthew, Larry, Michael, and Casey told them not to move or talk. At some point during the night, her father arrived at the residence. She was able to send a few text messages to her father, D. One was a response to her father asking her if she could talk. She responded, “I can not. I am stuck, I am so scared.” The other one was a response to her father telling her to come outside because he was there. She responded, “Dad I can not. The cops are outside. I’m sorry. I wanna get sick.”
8) I then spoke to SS. She stated that AS invited her to her birthday party. After Mike, Casey, and Larry got into a fight with J, they came back inside and told everyone to go upstairs to AS’s bedroom. When the police arrived, they knocked on the door and told them to open the door. SS stated, “We were not allowed to go downstairs. We were stuck in AS’s bedroom.” She also said they were not allowed to move or use their phones and were basically in ‘lockdown’ for several hours. She remembered Michael telling them to “Be quiet.” SS also stated that she was very scared throughout the whole ordeal.
9) I then read a written statement from JC. Officer Jake King interviewed her on 4/22/10, and she spoke about the fight between her boyfriend and Michael, Casey, Matthew and Larry. She also wrote about how she and her friends were held in the residence after the fight. The following is from her written statement:
a) When the police arrived, “Larry grabbed me and told me to go upstairs quietly. We crawled upstairs and I was crying saying I needed to go open the door, they can’t tow my car.”
b) Michael told her that if they were all quiet, the police can’t come in.
c) Later in the night she heard that her parents arrived at the house. JC wrote, “Not until I heard my parents was I completely ready to leave. I could hear my mom outside talking and crying, and I got up to run downstairs, Mike shut the door and said if you open that door we will all get arrested.”
d) While she was lying on the ground, she crawled to several windows and shook the curtains to try to get the police’s attention. She did this because Michael told her if the police see a shadow or movement in the house, then they could enter the residence. JC saw that nobody outside saw her shaking the curtains, so she asked to go to the bathroom. “Mike stood outside while I peed in the dark making sure I didn’t do anything, flush, or turn on a light.”
e) Just before the police entered the residence, JC wrote that Casey, Larry, and Michael crushed up some Oxycontin pills and snorted them. She remembered they said, “If I go to jail I want to be (explicit) up, I’m gonna put some (explicit). They were laughing and blew whatever they had cut into a line.”
10) On 4/20/10, I called Michael Jardine’s home phone number and spoke with his mother, Denise Jardine. I told her that I would like to speak with Michael. She said she would have him call me. A short time later he returned my phone call. I asked him if he was at the Shea’s party last week. He stated he was there. He wanted to know why I asked. I told him that I found his license in the basement of the residence. He told me he left it there. I asked him if he knew what was on the license. He replied, “My picture.” I told him there was a white powder and rolled up dollar bill on his license. He stated, “Yeah, so.” I asked him if it was his, or one of his friends. He asked me why I wanted to know. I told him that I suspected it was cocaine, and that cocaine was illegal. He stated, “It’s mine. I was doing it while I was drinking. I drank a real lot. It’s not cocaine.” I also asked him if the cut corner of the baggie with traces of white powder belonged to him. He again asked me why I wanted to know. I told him again that if it turned out to be cocaine, it was illegal. He told me, “That was mine too.”
Based upon the foregoing information, there is probable cause to believe that the defendant did commit the crime or offense as stated above.
Wherefore, I request the issuance of an arrest warrant and an order for a duly authorized officer to take the defendant and bring him/her before the court having jurisdiction.
On this date the above-named DETECTIVE SCOTT D BALUKONIS personally appeared before me and made oath that the foregoing affidavit is true
