Right here in Londonderry, NH we have an amazing venue that is attracting a lot of great acts and providing an excellent atmosphere to see an intimate show. Tupelo Music Hall located at 2 Young Road a stones throw south of the Crossroads Mall off rt. 102 is easy to get to and delivers top names right here to Londonderry. Check out Pictures of Peter Wolf Live at Tupelo Music Hall.
Mother’s Day night Tupelo Music Hall had a packed house of eager fans ready to get on their feet for Peter Wolf. As the seats started to fill I spoke to a few people about the show and the venue. One gentleman had made the trip from Woburn, Massachusetts to see Peter Wolf for the second time in his life, he mentioned that it was an easy trip up and had made it a few times in the past to catch other shows here in Londonderry.
My first memory of The J. Geils Band is from 5th grade and the hit “Centerfold”. I first saw Peter Wolf in Concert in Manchester, NH I’d say @ 1991 where $3 got me admission to Manchester’s Riverfest and the night’s show which was none other than Peter Wolf. That still ranks as one of my favorite shows.
Just about 7:00 The Roy Sludge Duo took the stage to warm up the crowd and did a great job of it. With a deep voice and a fun sort of Rock a Billy sound they had the hall rocking and ready for the headliner.
Peter Wolf backed by The Midnight Travelers came on a little before 8:00 and performed for 2 hours including 2 encores. The set was filled with songs spanning over 30 years of Wolf’s career including his new album “Midnight Souvenirs”, great work. The entire set was awesome, and was peppered with some of Peter Wolf’s story telling that worked so well in this small venue. Experiencing the sold out show at The Tupelo Music Hall was a perfect fit, complete with audience participation. At one point, I believe just before moving into “Love Stinks”, we see a fan brought up on stage to show off his old school J. Geils Band 3/4 sleeve concert shirt. Of course we were treated to ” Musta Got Lost”, during which I was pretty impressed to see some teenaged kids dancing and enjoying a great night out at our local venue. The only song I missed not hearing was “Just Can’t Wait”, off of ”Love Stinks” it happens to be one of my favorites.
The great news is, if you missed seeing Peter Wolf and The Midnight Travelers here in Londonderry, they are doing a short tour in the north east supporting Wolf’s new album which has a few close by dates. If that wasn’t enough… a special show called The Double Play at Fenway Park is going to have The J. Geils Band back together again joining Aerosmith on August 14th, wow.
