RE/MAX will be holding it’s 11th annual yard sale at the Crossroads Mall this weekend. Beginning at 8 AM on Saturday, May 1st, the yard sale will last until 3 PM. Gladys Wallace, a RE/MAX agent and one of the organizers for the sale, reported that sometimes people start to “show up at 7; as soon as we open.”
The items that will be sold have been donated by Londonderry residents. For the last couple of weeks, a storage trailer has been located in the parking lot at Crossroads. Residents have been able to leave their donated items in the trailer. These items include furniture, toys, books, and more.
Monies earned from past yard sales have been donated to a variety of causes. Started as a way to raise money for scholarships, RE/MAX has adjusted it’s focus through the years. Victims of Katrina and the Lancer’s Marching Band trip to China have benefited from the yard sales. Past proceeds have ranged from $2,000 to $5,000. This year, all proceeds from the items will go towards Warm Homes, a local food bank, and the Bella Tucker Fund.
Warm Homes is a non-profit organization that helps supply heat to struggling families and individuals. Working with local oil companies, Warm Homes is able to give a one-time donation of up to 150 gallons of oil to these households. The Bella Tucker Fund was started for a Londonderry South School student that came down with a serious infection. While expected to require an extended-stay in a Boston hospital, her parents have been struggling financially. The money donated by RE/MAX will help this Londonderry family.
“We work in this community, so we try to give back to community as much as we can,” says Wallace about the entire RE/MAX team working to organize the yard sale. The storage trailer was donated by Fortin. And Prosciutto’s Pizza will donate pizza to those working to sell the items at the yard sale. Thank you Londonderry companies!
Donations still being accepted!!
If you have items that you’d like to donate, don’t hesitate! Donations will be accepted through the day of the sale. Anything not sold at the RE/MAX yard sale will be donated to the Lion’s Hall yard sale, to be held May 15th. RE/MAX will NOT accept clothing or electronics, including TV’s, appliances, and computers.
