On March 6, 2010 at approximately 3:52pm, a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 293 south in the City of Manchester.
According to Sgt. Dean Holston of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B the investigation revealed the following:
At approximately 1552 hours, a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling southerly on Interstate 293 and had taken the ramp to access Interstate 93 north. At a certain point in the roadway while in the curve of the ramp, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
As a result, the vehicle traveled off the roadway, rolled over, struck a number of trees and caught on fire. The driver, identified as, Thomas J. Doherty of Manchester, NH. He was ejected from the vehicle prior to it’s final rest. Doherty was pronounced dead at the scene by the County Medical Examiner.
Initial investigation indicates that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the accident. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Lawrence Lundt of Troop B.
