NH Democratic Party Calls For Resignation of Baldasaro

NH Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley and DNC member Kathy Sullivan Call on Londonderry State Representative Al Baldasaro to Resign After Saying NH is “Selling Children to Homosexuals for $10,000 each.”

This video inserted into a comment by one of our readers in our January 4th story about Al Baldasaro asking the Town Council to recognize Marriage as One Man and One Woman.  The statement Dem Party chair Buckley refers to is in this video.

Ray Buckley, Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, released the following statement after Republican state Representative Al Baldasaro  (R-Londonderry), while testifying before the NH House Judiciary Committee last Wednesday, stated that “The state of New Hampshire is selling children to homosexuals for $10,000 each.”

“Rep. Baldasaro’s remarks have no place in New Hampshire and certainly not from a state elected official.  He needs to immediately apologize for his outrageous statement.  And his Londonderry colleague House Minority Leader Rep. Sherman Packard, as well as Deputy Minority Leader Rep. David Hess of Hooksett and Republican 16th District Senate candidate Rep. David Boutin of Hooksett should denounce these ridiculously hateful remarks and demand his resignation.”

“The Granite State is a place where people of different backgrounds are accepted, not discriminated against based on their, race, gender, or sexual orientation.  To make such an ignorant comment is an embarrassment to his party, his office, and to our state. Republican legislative leaders should take swift and determined action against Rep. Baldasaro.”

Londonderry Representative Baldasaro said, “I was referring to federal money the state receives from every adoption.”  he continued on to apologize for his poor choice of words in the State House yesterday afternoon.

The law he was referring to was passed in 2008 that allowed unmarried same sex couples in New Hampshire to adopt children.  The $10,000 is a federal program that helps the state recoup the costs of adoption by any adopting couple.

Yesterday afternoon WMUR interviewed Al and in their words “Today he apologized, sort of.”

In the WMUR interview Al said, “The bottom line is I meant no disrespect,” he said. “That was a bad choice of words, saying the state is selling children to homosexuals, and it took the Democrats a week later to run with it, and it gave them something to do.”

The Eagle Tribune this morning in an editorial called Al’s statement a “Silly comment no cause for resignation“  While they called his statement ludicrous they complimented Al in his passion he brings to the job of State Representative in his work for our elderly and veterans.

The Tribune also called Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley statements just as ludicrous.

“Baldasaro made a foolish comment. But as an elected representative, Baldasaro has every right to hold the positions that he does on gay marriage. These views may infuriate some Democrats. But many of Baldasaro’s constituents may agree with them.”

“Democracy is better served when political parties get down to doing the work the people elected them to do, rather than lying in wait for the other side to slip up so they can shout, “Gotcha!” and demand resignations.”

From the January 27th Eagle Tribune Editorial

When asked if he intends to resign as demanded by the New Hampshire Democratic Party he said, “I have no intentions whatsoever the people of Auburn and Londonderry voted me in here, those are the ones that will make the decision at the polls.”

    Al stays… sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love lots of folks, but I would never tolerate this level of hate/ignorance from them. Especially in the realm of public office.

This “let NH vote” campaign is ridiculous. It’s “let NH vote to change its constitution to take rights away from people we disagree with.” Sets a very scary precedent.

Well, the precedent of amending a state’s constitution to prohibit same-sex marriages was set pretty long ago. I think over two dozen states currently have ratified such an amendment in their constitutions.

The federal government has also passed, of course, the Defense of Marriage Act back in 1996 which, so far, has not been overturned even though it has been challenged many times on constitutional grounds.

On a side note, if you truly love (or even just respect) the U.S. Constitution, you should have a bit more acceptance of folks that don’t agree with your particular point of view, no matter how “right” you think you are (or in fact may be). Freedom of speech was included in the first amendment for a reason.

Coincidently, the right to petition the government for redress of grievances is explicitly granted in this same amendment.

Al is doing nothing more than exercising these two first amendment rights on behalf of himself and a portion of his constituency. You can disagree and argue the points of the argument, or lambast him and his supporters and I will do nothing more than consider your points as you are exercising your rights also. (You can also run for office and do exactly what Al is doing with your own beliefs and perspectives.)

However, I don’t think that impugning his character adds to your argument. (And, to be frank, when you call someone ignorant you should carefully check your own facts first… you know, the old stones in a glass house thing.)

Just my two cents worth of course, your mileage may vary.

Only our state rep would have no issue publicly telling the chairman of the other party to kiss his ***. How attractive.

There is a vast difference between respectfully and thoughtfully stating your point of view, and accusing our legislature of trafficking children.

I would not argue that he should be arrested, etc., for his tirade. I am not against freedom of speech; nowhere did I suggest that. However, I would argue that he should treat his fellow human beings with far more respect, especially as an elected representative.

I’m not sure which “points of argument” I should address. That homosexuality is not incest? That most Muslims aren’t polygamist murderers? That our state reps aren’t selling babies on the side? His comments don’t warrant an argument.

You mentioned that I should check my facts. There is nothing to be checked. CACR 28 and HB 1590 both seek to change our state constitution to specifically disallow same-sex marriage. HB 436, which allows for same-sex marriage, passed in the House of Representatives, passed in the Senate, and was signed by our governor.

I will say that you are proving my point–you are exercising your freedom of speech beautifully, and I’m not calling you hateful or ignorant, no matter how much I may disagree with you. For a public official–I don’t care which side he’s on or what it’s about–to speak that way, and to be so flagrantly disrespectful toward our government, is terrible, and *everyone* should be ashamed of the way this man, who represents us, spoke.

  6. I agree with what Larry said:

“Al is doing nothing more than exercising these two first amendment rights on behalf of himself and a portion of his constituency. You can disagree and argue the points of the argument, or lambast him and his supporters and I will do nothing more than consider your points as you are exercising your rights also. However, I don’t think that impugning his character adds to your argument. (And, to be frank, when you call someone ignorant you should carefully check your own facts first… you know, the old stones in a glass house thing.)”

And by the way, if someone had told me that I should resign my seat in the legislature because they didn’t agree with me, my response might have been similar to Al’s. That’s a stupid demand.

  7. Here is a copy of my statement that was released by me Tuesday.

“After reviewing my remarks before the judiciary committee I now realize that I got carried away with my statements and should have taken more time to chose my words carefully. I regret my poor judgment and sincerely apologize to anybody who was offended by my comments.”

Yes I did tell the Democrat Chair to kiss my A_ _. Since this was not the 1st time he has personally attacked me and if you know Ray Buckley’s record you would be disgusted.

I am not ashame to say that while I was being rushed that I stated the issues wrong/incomplete with federal Title 4-D monies that the state gets for adoptions and did not complete my sentence on who can adopt children that are not married. My comments on incest and Muslims with three wives was to show are they next because they discriminated against them, they love what they do and they protected a small group. I am a straight shooter and yes, I do not hold back on fact.

Whether you agree or disagree, I support children being brought up with a mother and a father involved in their life. It came out wrong and I am not ashamed to say I am not perfect but if you review the tape you will see that I stated I meant no respect, knowing I was being rushed.

On my site you will see when I testified on the constitutional amendment and yes I am very passionate on where I stand.

If you check my writings from the 1st day I got involved with politics, you will see where I stated my position on marriage between a man and a woman. No secret!!!!

It’s time to move on and let the people vote and I will respect the people decision and not just one party who on the 1st vote lost and then reconsidered and it passed.

It is a shame that I am called many names because I stand up for what I believe in and I will not be intimidated on my beliefs on family values.

    NOTE:
See http://www.letnhvote.com to see how many cities and towns where their selectman/councilors supported putting the non-binding resolution on the ballot.

      Mr. Baldasaro:

The statement you issued does not match your elaboration upon it. I don’t know if you don’t care how hateful what you said was, or if you simply don’t get it.

One of my closest friends “stand[s] up for what [she] believe[s] in,” and does not believe in same-sex marriage. I love her dearly. She would *never* speak as hatefully as you did. I am calling you hateful because of the WAY you spoke.

At times, I feel my personal/religious beliefs are at odds with what would be best and most fair in the realm of government. Just because I believe something does not mean that others should be forced to live their lives in accordance with my beliefs. As a Christian, I ask myself, if Christians were not in the majority in this country, would I feel comfortable with my government doing [x].

The idea of a vote to amend our constitution to take away equal rights is entirely inappropriate to me.

I don’t want a government telling me how or where to worship; so I don’t think I should force my religious views on the government and/or my fellow citizens.

” I support children being brought up with a mother and a father involved in their life.”

Someone just lost the single-parent vote.

  9. Good Morning AJP,
I am a single father myself but my children’s mother is still involved in my daughter’s life. Whether you are divorced or married, our family courts have made it tough on many families. Fathers and mothers are being mentally evaluated, many families are being forced into supervised visitation center, costing them thousands of dollars and if you follow the money trail, you will see that millions of tax payers’ money is going into the pockets of these programs. Keep in mind that many divorces in our state are not represented by Lawyers where in many cases, who ever stretch the truth and sounds convincing wins and you would be shocked at what has been going on and for some reason people have been silent, not me.

You sent me to Concord to do a job and I can not be intimidated to back off. If you are fortunate to have deep pockets, you have a better chance in our courts. With the way the Democrats have raised the filing fees, it has made it unaffordable for the person who does not have deep pockets.

There are Grandparents that are being denied adoption, parents walking away from their kids due to the thousands of dollars spent in lawyer fees, visitation Centers, Guardian En-Lithem’s, Counselors, just to name a few. Many young families, who don’t have the money for a Lawyer are racking up thousand being paid by taxpayers monies by DCYF and then going after the om or Dad with the most money to pay it back. Then billing the federal government for more money to offset the cost.

There is no appeal process in Family court because if you want to appeal, it goes to the Supreme Court and many of them are turned away unless you have deep pockets.

I have been tracking the money trail between the family courts and DCYF for over two years and some marital masters and Guardian En-Li them are not looking out for the kids best interest. This goes deeper than you would believe all over the almighty dollar in receiving Title 4 funding. I did not wake up one day and say o let me protect families, I have been involved heavily with the Family Courts and if you look at what is going on at the state house there are about 5 Re-dress a grievances filed to remove Marital Masters and a Bill of address to impeach a judge. The courts in NH have no Legislative over sight committee since a few years ago when the Supreme Courts in NH took that way by means of saying it was unconstitutional.

So before you past judgment on listening to a few lines of bull, I recommend you take a real look at what the break down is in the family courts on how our kids are being moved around from Foster Homes and adoptions without working with the families to straighten out the issues. Follow the Federal dollar money trail and you will see. I have Co-Sponsored Legislation to audit the DCYF and the Family Courts. Why do you think they want to quiet me down??? It will not happen. I have just testified in the Judiciary Committee on the OLD BOY NETWORK with the courts Bar Association because there has been a major conflict because the Supreme Court Justice runs the fraternity with all paying dues controlled by the Judges and Lawyers. The Bar Association makes the decision to pull you Attorney credentials and Hmmmm, they also are making decisions on cases.

So, what I am trying to say here, that this goes deeper than many of you may know for Federal Dollars. Did you no we spend more monies in Medicaid on drugging our children than any other state in the country? Did you know by having many kids on Psychopathic drugs brings more Federal Dollars to the state? Did you know, two years ago, I brought a petition to the Attorney General, signed by 18 Legislator to take the drug companies to court for dispensing psychopathic drugs to our kids that are not FDA approved and our Attorney General Kelly was already involved with this, won a few million dollars in class action suits? Did you know that I filed Legislation to keep the PEDIPHLIERS away from our schools and day care centers? Have you look at the State Police list on how PEDIPHLERS are moving to our state in droves because our restrictions are not tough like other states and this also puts a financial burden on our taxpayers on welfare monies being paid out?

Whether you vote for me or not, while I am your State Rep, I will not turn my back on what is happening in our state. I will continue to fight for the traditional family, a mother and a father involved with raising their kids and marriage between a man and a woman. Our Families values have broken down and the Family court/DCYF is no help.

Just my opinion from many long hours donated to get to the bottom of the break down of the traditional family in the courts/DCYF. If I lost your vote and I am voted out of office, I can look in the mirror and say I gave it my best shot to protect our kids (future) and Family Values.

    Respectfully,

    AL

    Bingo.

Al’s statement was inflammatory and misleading. If he is worried about the lack of decency in society, he should start with what comes out of his own mouth.

I don’t expect or wish him to resign. I can support my own views on the subject with my actions at the polls. However as a Londonderry citiizen I do expect him to represent us in a professional, respectful and accurate manner.

Representative Baldasaro, it is clear you have passion, but please take the time to think before you speak or write. You have the freedom of speech, but you have a responsibility as a representative to present your opinions in an organized and factual fashion. Present your thoughts with passion yes, but not with rants.

Your posting is filled with spelling and grammatical errors I would not allow my 5th grader to make. You are rambling and unfocused. Your rant goes from marriage to money trails and drugs. I happen to not agree with you and did not vote for you, but I believe you have every right to your opinion and to express it. However, your actions and writings confirm I made the right choice.

I watched both Judiciary Committee Hearings regarding same sex marriage. In a slip of the tongue, Representative Baldasaro combined two subjects brought up to him immediately before his oratory by concerned citizens. Obviously, he and those who are against same sex marriage are against homosexual couples adopting children. He was not called out of order by the Judiciary Committee. Representative Nixon called a point of order, but there was no follow up by the Committee Chair. Representative Baldasaro put the bill forward because he’s been getting complaints from constituents about the method used to get the “law” in when it passed. Representative Bates proved that across the country states are modifying their Constitutions to define marriage as between one man and one woman. Other states have overturned the laws as well. The attacks against Baldasaro were orchestrated by the Democrat Leadership, NH DNC Chairman Ray Buckley. YouTube search: Ray Buckley and you’ll see how pathetic the Democrat Leadership really is. There is no wonder the state is heading downward. Watch the video! You’ll be disgusted. Is this the best they can do?
